The Original Jungle Boot
I received these about a week ago right on time. Once unboxed I gave them a good going over for any flaws and found none. The stitching and overall craftmanship was comparable to any high quality boots I own (and I don't own any other kind). Then I slipped them on to make sure they fit and walked around the room. Absolutely perfect fit with no breaking in needed. The padded insole felt as comfortable as my Belleville 1st issue USMC hot weather combat boots which feel like walking on foam pillows. Better yet these boondockers feel like they weigh half as much. They even weigh less than my Chippewa trench boots which are just a variant of the boondocker. In these 100+ degree Texas summers that reduction in weight makes a big difference toward the end of the day. I had some reservations about running through the brambles in low tops during snake season but in the end I decided I'd just have to watch my step. Since most of the Banana War Marines waltzed around Nicaragua in these and half of Carlson's Raiders chose them over the new fangled canvas jungle shoes, they must have something going for them.I'd looked at these Golden Fox boondockers for over a year comparing them to all the repro competitors out there before justifying getting another pair of boots I probably didn't truly need. The decision was made considerably easier by the insane prices those others were asking; some as high as $680 based upon some nitpicky details that made them museum quality replicas. Get real folks! This is basically a mass produced boot intended for the working stiff that nearly every man in my family had worn since before the Mexican Punitive Expedition. Field Marching Shoe, farmer's clodhopper, same thing. They were never intended for the High Society Ballroom Dancing crowd so why price them like they were? Hats off to Golden Fox for producing a practical quality product us mud jumpers can afford. As for being assembled in China, you'd be hard pressed to find anything that isn't these days. Given quality materials to work with, Chinese craftsmanship is equal to any other country. And since every scrap of leather is shipped off to China the minute it comes off a cow in Texas I guess that answers that. At this point I'm pleased as punch with my Golden Fox boondockers and I expect to remain so for a long time to come. And when I finally do wear them down to rags I'll replace them with three more pairs for less than what the others are asking for one.David CampbellL/Cpl USMC (ret) LOL!

Thus far I really like these boots
Thus far I really like these boots. I wear a normally fall between a 10.5 and an 11 wide depending on the maker of the boot. I went with an 11 and they fit great. They are a little longer in the length than most of my other 11s I've purchased in the past but it isn't a big difference. Width wise they are great. I think next time I may go with a 10.5. They are comfortable and have been breaking them in and thus far good. No soreness in my feet, no blisters or hot spots from rubbing like I've had in the past. I highly recommend this boots, they are really comfortable, look great and affordable. I was wanting to purchase either a new pair or Chippewas or 1000 mile Wolverines but due to California Law, Chippewas can't ship here and the Wolverines are $400. For less than a $100 and quick shipping ( I had them in 2 days without my Prime) this thus far is a great buy. I highly recommend.

Great comfy boot
I was looking for a boot that would work with jeans as well as khaki pants for casual days at the office. These boots fit the bill. They are not too dressy and shiny that you can wear with jeans, but also not look like you are just getting off work at the construction site. They also work well with khaki pants and button up for a not too dressed up look.Fit was a little large, after reading all the reviews, I actually went one full size down and I'm very happy with the fit. Boots are super comfy and had no problem wearing them all day right out of the box.One tip: I tried on clark bushacre 2. Whatever size you wear in those, its close to a half size down. I did order a full size down in what I normally wear in everyday sneakers and it seems to work. I don't have have really wide feet either.Over all, the boots fit the needs for me. Really comfy to wear all day, can do yard work, and go out to dinner and the boots are overall good for any situation.

Solid comfortable boot. Would buy again.
I would give these 5 Stars if they weren't somewhat damaged right out of the box. Half inch razor blade cut on the side of the ankle that didn't go all the way through and a little too many scuffs for my liking on a brand new boot. But....Pretty damn good boots! Full leather Construction and very comfortable right out of the box. After my first day wearing them today for at least 10+ miles (I'm a building engineer in New York City I do a lot of walking) I have no complaints at all. The bottoms are grippy even though they don't really have a heavy tread and they stiched it on with a "Goodyear welt" which is pretty much what you want in a boot. I was actually surprised to see a Goodyear welt on a boot this inexpensive, it's harder to manufacture and it takes a few steps but you end up with a better boot. Not a bad looking boot either, until I destroy them I'll be able to wear them out on the town as well as to work. My only complaint was that they had a few scuffs and what looked like a small razor blade cut on the outside right ankle. Considering I'm probably going to do as much damage to them in a week I can't really complain about that but if you're buying these boots for fashion I could see that being a problem, hence the four stars. I would order these again in a heartbeat though if they stay around the same price and hold up over time. I wear boots pretty often so keep an eye on the date of this review, if they're no good theyll fall apart quickly and I'll update the review. No news is good news in this case.As far as the size, a few reviews recommend ordering a half size down. I did this and although they are snug they aren't too tight. A full leather construction boot is also going to stretch a little bit and end up being more comfortable in my opinion. It's close enough to be a personal preference and not so much a problem but I think most people would be fine ordering your usual size, unless you also like a snug boot of course. If you have a really wide foot you might want to look for another boot all together, they are a touch on the slim side but so is my foot.
