Sadolin Extra Durable Woodstain Natural 1L

I use this on my front door and recently applied some to a wooden gate outside. I've tried other water based wood stains with mixed results, the problem being longevity and toughness the ones I've tried don't seem to last as long as this.Application is quite easy with a good synthetic brush but take care to avoid masonry paint with splashes. Now the good news, the finish is superb and easily among the best I've used esp for a front door; Sadolin claim it also resists peeling and blistering and I won't disagree with that. Another good sign is that I only require a single top up coat on the front door every 4 years or so which is quick and easy to do.The bad news it that even on a fairy hot day the drying time is pretty long this can be a real problem for a front door which is going to be opened/closed so I suggest painting it very early in the morning by the night time it should be ok to close (as per usual a dry day is needed!). Applying the stain is simple enough it is quite a thin mixture, so apply this in very thin coats this also helps the drying time somewhat. Don't be tempted to layer on a really heavy coat as this only prolongs the drying which is quite long to start with, my sister decided to use a super thick coat on her front door end result was it took about 2 days to dry properly!Preparation: I usually do run down the surface with very fine sandpaper, though outside natural abrasion does occur. Make sure the surface is free from grease as this stops the stain drying.Cleaning the brushes use methylated spirit, but not white spirit as this doesn't remove the stain properlyIf you can tolerate the longer drying times the claims of durability hold up in the real world, with a top notch finish just make sure to use thin coats.
