Disappointing – Bluetooth connection never worked
I rarely write reviews, even though I purchase a lot of products on Amazon. However, this particular item left me genuinely disappointed. Aesthetically, it’s beautiful—exactly what I was looking for—but unfortunately, it simply doesn’t work as expected.Despite having a high-end smartphone, I was unable to connect the device via Bluetooth. The product relies entirely on an app to function, which seems unnecessary and impractical for something as simple as a light that already includes a remote control. The app never connected successfully, no matter how many times I tried. It’s very frustrating to install something that looks great, only to find out it doesn’t function. I’ve decided to return it, and I cannot recommend it. Save your time and money—this product may look appealing, but it fails in performance.

Must buy!
Simple and very effective! Used this for a few indoor and outdoor shoots to add fill or even as a main light. This is a must buy!

Neat, But Maybe Over-Complicated.
This is a cool and unusual piece of lighting kit. It’s relatively compact and puts out a good bit of adjustable light. However, I think the same effect can be achieved with gear that is lighter, smaller, cheaper, and simpler simpler to set up.Pros:- Nice design and build quality on the mount and electronics.- The remote is a nice touch.- The built-in pump is handy.Cons:- The build quality of the light is just okay.- It runs pretty hot.- It requires a lot of power (60W pack or wired connection).- There’s a fair bit of assembly/disassembly.- A phone app is unnecessary.- Simpler/cheaper hardware would work. For the money, I’d suggest going with a portable soft box for a better experience.

MUST BE PAIRED W PHONE TO WORK, BUT WON'T PAIR!!!
In order for the light to work, you need to download the app and pair the light to the remote. However, the unit won't pair. NOTE!!! THE LIGHT WON'T WORK AS A STAND ALONE... IT MUST BE PAIRED WITH AN APP ON YOUR PHONE!! If you can't pair the light to your phone, you can't use the light. Not a great situation to be in if you plan on using this for work. Great idea, poor quality.

Clever idea for a light, but no battery is a bit of a let-down
I like Ulanzi products and have generally found they work well and are fairly priced for the features. This light is actually quite large when inflated and the quality of light that comes out of it is great with excellent color rendering and pretty impressive brightness. The effects are just OK though, every light seems to have the same ones and I never found them that great to begin with; they're there though, so that's something. I do not like how the light mounts to the arm, the velcro isn't strong enough and the fact that it's angled doesn't help at all. I never felt like it was particularly secure when mounted and think this could really be improved. The built-in air pump has a battery, but not the light itself, and instead relies on a cable you need to connect to a power bank. The problem is that most power banks won't put out 60W, even my Sony batteries will only go up to 30W, so as of now, I'm not able to get maximum brightness out of the light. I also find the whole handle and cable setup to be cumbersome and unwieldy. It's a well made light though, that feels tough and durable, the light quality is great and the overall design being inflatable is pretty cool, but it needs some improvement in the power department and a built-in battery would really go a long way towards making it better.

Well made, quirky light makes a nice addition to the kit
Ulanzi generally makes pretty solid products, and this one fits that bill. The material is strong, and the design is well thought out. The auto-inflate function is pretty great, and it fills the light in about 10 seconds. The handle is a bit bulky, but it also functions as a home for the remote control, a rotating clamp, and power adapter. The light has two strips of velcro along both sides for mounting to the metal clamp, but can also be used to mount to other holders. Being incredibly light, the extra mounting options open up a lot of creative options for tight spaces. The amount of light is about what you'd expect for 60 watts through diffusion, and the overall surface area is roughly 12x20, making for a moderate sized light source. It's not quite big enough for a soft wrap around on a face, but close enough in a pinch. Their app is really straight-forward and does everything you'd like it to do. No light is perfect for every situation, so there are some caveats and considerations with the AL60. In deflated form it's about the size of other traditional COB LED lights (though much lighter); in some ways it doesn't save that much on space alone, though you don't necessarily need another modifier for soft light. The clamp and power cord (from the handle to the light) are unique, so there's no swapping out parts with your other lights-- you need to bring everything and they only work with this light. The metal clamp is also a bit bulky. The inflatable design offers very little control over the shape of the light. It largely goes where it goes, though you could use the velcro strips to attach skirts for an overhead setup. That is one of its best use cases, along with general ambience or a very tight headshot. I am fond of the inflatable format, and look forward to more innovation along these lines from Ulanzi.**UPDATE: I've taken the Ulanzi on a couple of professional shoots now, and I have to say I've grown even more fond of it. Because it's so light (and relatively compact) I've included in my light stand case, eliminating the need for another case. I've found that it shines in solo-interview settings, especially when the light levels are lower and you're trying to lift the subject out of the background with a soft wrap-around light, and not have them pop unrealistically in the foreground. AIn this scenario I find I'm using the light between 5-20%, as close as possible.
