Of course, stainless would be stronger but waaay more expensive. I needed to add rear poles to the Bimini top on a 15" Scout boat and these fir the bill. For poles, I used steel handles from Quickie brand mops ($13.00 at the big box home store starting with an "L.")If I could, I would down grade it 1/2 star due to cheesy hardware---the screws, while stainless, look to be #8's and too small for the task.

I checked the package when it arrived and found the 4 screws that are shown with the deck hinges were missing and the deck hinges themselves were angled hinges, not the straight ones shown in the pictures and description. While not exactly what I ordered, I’m under a time constraint and will have to use them as best I can.

They work, plastic stretches a bit more than i like. May switch to stainless steel in the future if these give me problems.
