Pattern Making for Fashion Design Hardcover – 8 Jan. 1997

Excellent and comprehensive book. This 1995 edition gives you all the principles to make patterns of any shape and style, so it doesn't matter if some of the illustrations look a bit old fashioned. I am not a professional dressmaker, but I like to create my own designs and this book gives me the wherewithal to do that.

I was hesitant to purchase a used book especially one as old as this one. However, to my surprise the book is in excellent condition. All of the pages are mark free with about one or two tiny smudges. I only read a few pages but I thumbed through the table of contents and the rest of the book and it seems to have everything that I need to draft a pattern and so much more. I plan to read this book from cover to cover. I'm teaching myself to sew and to draft patterns and the only formal lessons that I've had was in the 9th grade about 40 years ago. This book seems to be the missing link for me since I've always wanted to know how to draft patterns. A few weeks ago I purchased How Patterns Work The Fundamental Principles of Pattern Making and Sewing in Fashion Design by Assembil Books and it doesn't teach you how to draft patterns but it does teach you how patterns work and why they're put together they way that they are. I'm not yet done reading it but I will read it cover to cover also. I'm about half way through it and the information definitely fills in the learning gaps. As for Patternmaking for Fashion Design I'm happy with my purchase. I order it on June12 and it was delivered on June 15. I hope this review has been helpful.

This book did arrive on time and only had one small brown spot (looks like a long time ago past coffee spill) on the page side close to the bottom of the book; which is no problem at all since it was listed as previously used. The pages are pristine, binding is strong like it is new; so glad to have ordered this book from this seller!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I got to say this book is so great I just got it and already love the fact that is loaded with information and graphic illustrations for the explanation on the subject at hand. This is a great book and although is from 1995 it is still one of the best I have seen. I can't wait to start my practice learning and put in practice in actual work. I am a seamstress and for the longest time I wanted to make my own patterns and so I decided to purchase this book to help me understand the method needed for making patterns.

Book is in excellent condition considering it's from the mid 90's! And it was quite a bit cheaper than the newer editions. I got this for home sewing. Seems like it'll be helpful.
