NieR:Automata: Short Story Long

Awesome stories.

I enjoyed reading the story about A2s past. It was better than watching the stage play in my opinion

I read through this book twice because I was so in awe, this game definitely gives you some insight on characters backstories that you don't get to experience in the games and once you're finished reading you honestly are left in awe. I would recommend any Nier: Automata fans to read this book !

Book came in great condition. If you're a fan of the Nier: Automata, you should read both this and the companion piece, Long Story Short.

There might be some spelling mistakes but its alright because im a fan of atomata and this is more of NieR. All i need now is long story short and my colection is complete.

NieR: Automata: Short Story Long is a collection of short stories written by Game Director Yoko Taro and novelist Jun Eishima. It's all new original material minus Emil's Recollections which is an adaption of the side quest in NieR Automata and ending Y. The last NieR novel was a novelization of the main game it had translation issues and was okay for the most part while I enjoyed the inner character monologues I still preferred the game, with this its all new material for the fans of NieR. When I say for the fans I mean for the fans if you have no context to NieR Automata this novel will go completely over your head. It assumes you understand the context of the world. I loved NieR Automata it was my GOTY of 2017 and it is a classic so reading these short stories set in the post apocalyptic world of NieR was a real treat. Heavy themes of existentialism and the meaning of life from the prospective of the artificial intelligence perspective of machines and androids. Who wrestle with what is they're purpose just as modern humans do. The Androids are more interesting but the machines are well written too. The novel shows the origin story of A2 a fan favorite and her mission how she went rogue. They improved the translation from the last novel it reads better than the last one. However, there are a few typos throughout the novel not a deal breaker but editors should have caught that. NieR: Automata: Short Story Long in short (see what I did there) is a good novel the best way I can describe it in Laymen's terms is Blade Runner with the over the top nature of Anime. A must for fans of the game better than the last book. An A ranking from me chief.

Only part way through so far. full of short stories that add more lore extra stories. I wish i started buying the books sooner. I know of the stories from youtube videos but reading them are still a real treat. And fan will love this book

I was quite skeptical of buying this book from amazon but turns out I had no problems whatsoever. The quality of this book is perfect, there doesn't seem to be any damages at all. Also, w game, w book.

I'll probably struggle with this review because I like Nier Automata, therefore I liked this book. Meanwhile, I'm also a more general reader, so this isn't the first book I've read and surely, I wouldn't have read this if I wasn't a fan of the videogame series. Now, if you didn't know what Nier Automata is, it's a videogame directed by Yoko Taro, and this book is a collection of short stories that either don't appear in game or just get mentioned. Now, knowing this, you can already guess that reading this book, shouldn't be your first choice and if you want to have a better understanding of the story without playing the game, you have to read Long Story Short first. But after allof this, I can say that Short Story Long is a nice addition if you are a fan.
