Q: How does this work? Does not come with instructions. Mounted my iPhone to the controller but not sure what to do next.

It just clips onto the controller. Place the top hook over the top of the controller like in the image here on Amazon, then snap the bottom hook over the bottom of the controller.

Q: How does it connect to the phone

It clamps on the phone using pressure from a spring.

Q: Can this be used for the xbox elite controller?

I use the orginal xbox controllers...dont know whats the difference from the elite. But if there is something extra on your controller like under buttons or anything in the middle of it....then it might obstruct the mount.
