The Song of Ribhu: Translated from the Original Tamil Version of the Ribhu Gita

Late delivery but great book.

There is a series of books (the Magic Eye series) presenting computer generated arrangements of dots and other shapes which initially make no sense to the eyes until one relaxes ones usual focus and allows another focal point to draw the attention and then bring forth a seeming 3D image that can only be seen in this state of altered focus. In a parallel way, the Wisdom within the text of "The Song of Ribhu" draws the usual run of the mind to an altered focus - to the degree that one allows it to have its Way with one - ostensibly lifting it beyond itself into an expanded awareness closer...and closer...to That which alone Is. It becomes obvious why Ramana Maharshi found reflected within this text his own experience of Self-Realization and had it read before him, hour upon hour, evening after evening... RM stated that "These readings from 'Ribhu Gita' are as good a samadhi". It is my experience that it can take you there.

Existing reviews mention Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharishi's recommendation and the reader's own experience with the book. Several provide insight as to the style, including mention of the succinct Sanskrit version rendered by the same two translators. These, an Indian language scholar and a great spiritual teacher, were both versed in the Teaching and the text. But the spiritual authenticity guaranteed by the latter actually saturates the book, and meditations so inspired, with the same Wisdom as Ribhu, a Sage ancient beyond history.

South India is a part of India that has produce some of the best spiritual literature in the world. The Song of Ribhu makes up a huge part for this statement. An essential for anyone wanting to go deeper inside themselves. It reaffirms constantly that Brahman is All and You are That. Like a lullaby its splendor will sink its roots deep into your consciousness.

Having experienced the state of Nirvikalpa, I can say that this book describes it well.Since I studied the Vedas and Upanishads during my High School days, I found that most of what I read here is a repetition of those concepts.For a beginner to this type of spiritual guide, the book should be a good read.The BEST, of course, is to actually Experience the state of enlightenment.
