![ALIEN - ORGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK [VINYL]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81XhWRvtxdL.jpg)

Mondo is proud to present Jerry Goldsmith's score to Ridley Scott's masterpiece, ALIEN. An absolute essential soundtrack for not only fans of the franchise, but of the legendary composer, and of science fiction and horror cinema itself. There is no doubt Alien is a monumental achievement in movie making, it’s tense, terryifying and pretty damn untouchable. The score by Jerry Goldsmith is an absolute masterclass in building tension and scaring the hell out of you within the film but it also is a beautifully orchestrated stand alone listen full of excitement that harks back to many of the rollicking adventure scores of the 40s & 50s. Review: The Complete Alien Listening Experience - I bought the LP back in 1979 when CDs and videos were almost nothing but a myth on Tommorrows World. There was so much missing from the film and what was recorded on to the album was presented in such a disjointed fashion that I couldn't help feeling a little disappointed. Well, after thirty years they've actually set the record straight! A 2CD collection featuring a total of 126 minutes of tracks composed for the film ( with a fascinating in depth history of the troubled production score included) makes this essential listening for all the true fans of the original and best of the "Alien" films. Firstly its a joy to hear all of the complete original score set in the right order so that you will actually get the right sense of the tension building. It really is so superbly done and so distinctive you realise immediately just how much it brought to the movie. Also included at the end are the "rescored" alternate cues that were done at the behest of Ridley Scott. It was fascinating to read the booklet whilst listening to determine what "was and wasn't" finally used and just how subtley they differed. Also included is that Original Soundtrack Album from 1979 and bonus tracks including the haunting Main Title openning and a few other samples.Worth it alone for that Openning I could feel the hairs standing up at the back of my neck. Overall I am delighted with it. I debated about buying because of the price but having listened to it its worth every penny to me. Review: Fabulous Vinyl Pressing - This and Aliens have always been near the top of my favourite soundtracks. Being a collector I already had the original vinyl versions but wanted the Mondo releases too. I managed to get Aliens and this little beauty on Acid Green Vinyl. The vinyl transfer is amazing, which is particularly important with this (and Aliens) as there are quiet a few quiet passages. Aliens is now OOP but you can still pick up the Alien double album at a decent price, although now only on black vinyl. For those undecided I would encourage them to take the plunge as this soundtrack sounds stunning on vinyl. Certainly one of Goldsmith's best. The gatefold sleeve is nice and thick and the artwork is great. You don't get any liner notes as such, just an insert stating recording dates, etc. Worth every penny.

Fantastic! unforgettable cues and themes!
Very Pleased with this product, i have been a huge alien fan since the age of 8, it was the first horror film i can recall watching and years later i have finally decided to collect all of the soundtracks. I think one of the more interesting parts of this package is the little booklet which details the struggles of creating the music that Mr Goldsmith faced and while Riddley Scott tampered with it and many cues were changed, this contains all of the music which Gerry Goldsmith originally created for the film (some of which was not used) and then the alternate tracks which were, for example track one was not the theme used for the film it was the originally intended whereas track 24 on disc 1 is the recreated version which you hear in the movie.

Sublime for its day. The emptiness of space... The threat of a single alien...
Pretty much the complete version. Contains all Gerry's versions and then the film edits that Ridley preferred...and more. All the themes are epic, some not even making the cut at all, hence this complete album is essential. Shame it's taken me til 2015 to get it. Have to give credit to the video game ALIEN ISOLATION on Xbox for the refreshed interest in this particular soundtrack.

Buy if you DARE!
Got to be the best music score ever. Wish Ridley Scott would do his directors cut with the correct music from Mr Goldsmith in it. Would be a new film and way more scary!!!!

although I love the music featured in the film
I'd been trying to get hold of this soundtrack for years as, although I love the music featured in the film, I'm a huge Jerry Goldsmith fan so this is the better version.

It's The Music That Really Matters.
When i received this i placed it next to my other ALIEN cds but once i'd opened it to play it fell apart into two pieces as i opened the cellophane, small pieces of sharp plastic fell onto the floor which i quickly removed.Fortunately the discs themselves were undamaged and the case went back together in a fashion to take it's pride of place as the first & original score that started it all.Alongside John Carpenter's Halloween score and Wendy Carlos' The Shining score Jerry Goldsmith's ALIEN score with it's subtle"cuckoo" musical motif is now legendary in the horror genre. The cuckoo representing the xenomorph inside the egg (i'd personally argue that the cuckoo in the nest is Ash,who changed the course of the Nostromo-without him the ship and it's crew would've avoided the entire thing!)and still stands the test of time.Excellent atmospheric, suspenseful and shocking these cds are a must for any film score fan. I began on a negative note but i've become philosophical about incidents like this because it's the cheapest that i've seen this particular release and ultimately it's the music that really matters.
