i t v wrestling returns
hello again grapple fans i t v wrestling has at last returned with another release on dvd. I have to say this one is better than the offering from last year as its not so much centered around haystacks and daddy but the other favourites includeing les kellit who we saw last time, the british bulldog appearing here as young david aged just 16 and one of my favourites king kendo nagasaki. Once again its world of sports own dickie davis hosting. If its so good why only four stars? well simply because yet again granada are giving us very rushed matches mear highlights of the wrestling action when complete matches are avaleable elsewhere on dvd although not as widely as this release. Still a great effort hope to see more releases like it. Big moments? Well it has to be giant haystacks back elbowing m c brian crabtree accidentaly whilst gestureing at big daddy aka the fat fraud hillarious! anyway so long fight fans til next time.

Great for nostalgia not for wrestling.
Great video for nostalgia but if you are expecting some great technical wrestling or some full matches you will be disapointed. If you still are lucky enough to own a VHS and you want to see some old school british wrestling, check out, "The Mick Mcmanus world of wrestling" "Tag Teams and tearaways" or "Mayhem and Mystery. These wrestling videos are still available on amazon and are way better.

Saturday afternoon fun
Only those of a certain age will remember this. I prefer American-style wrestling, but I do have fond memories of tuning in with my nan to watch the British wrestling on a saturday afternoon. Big Daddy, Giant Haystacks, Mick McManus...loved all the baddies. But hated the way the matches dragged on...broken up into rounds, interminable rest holds, little in the way of high-flying.On the plus side, I thought the 'public warnings' were great though, and the contorted granny faces at ringside giving the bad guys what-for!! Marvellous.Young lads and lasses who have ever only known the WWE-style of grappling may actually find this snapshot of 70s/early 80s British TV wrestling quite intriguing though - if only for a few laughs on a wet weekend afternoon. Which is pretty much the purpose it served originally!

Brings back memories but could have had so much more content
Great but even the three bouts are not complete. Surely ITV has realised that there is a market for release some full bouts. I used to virtually demolish a chair jumping up and down watching this in the 60's. Saturday afternoons were heaven, wrestling and then a fifteen minute break to get my breath back before hiding behind the settee watching DR who.The A-Z is fun, and the three bonus bouts are fun, but you really do wish they would just show an entire match.

Very good service, arrived before the expected time
Very good service, arrived before the expected time. Was brought for a ninety year old with dementia that used to like wrestling, my what a change in him when he started watching it, it was as if he was back to his old self and he could remember all the old wrestlers

When sport kept Grandma off the streets!
I know the old wrestling was completely staged, but it was an oasis of pure fun in the over competitive world of sport. Sit back with all the grannies on the front row & enjoy this excellent compilation of the good old days of wrestling.
