Works like a charm. Took out some tough stains other products couldn’t touch. Review: Wonderful classic soap for getting out stains. - I absolutely love this wonderful soap for hand washing out stains in clothing and other laundry! It’s one of my favorite things. It’s a treasure and an old classic for a reason—it works well consistently without weakening, fading or destroying fabrics, and does so better than anything else I have ever used. I also use it to pre-treat shirt collars and other such heavily soiled areas of clothing. I just wet those areas, rub the soap in well, scrub the area quickly, leave the soap to do its work for a while, and then throw those items in the washing machine with my regular laundry detergent. I also always keep a bar of the soap in my suitcases for stain treatment on the go. This soap has saved countless pieces of my clothing as well as tablecloths and many other things.

I have been using Sunlight soap for years! My mother used it and she thought it was a good product. It is a good soap to use for housecleaning and for laundering. I use it with baking soda to remove greasy or oily stains on clothes, it is quite effective! I use first the sunlight soap on the stain massaging it in, not rubbing and then add the baking soda using a soft small brush and working it in small circular motions on the stain. I do both sides of the garment, the top part and inside. Then wash it in lukewarm water and rinse in cold. If it is a stubbing stain, I let it dry (air dry) no dryer, the heat will set the stain. Usually the stain comes out on the first try. Sunlight soap is a good product, it has been around a long time. It has a nice lemon sent and the value for money is good. I will continue to buy Sunlight soap. A loyal customer, I am.

This soap is perfect for whitening items that cannot be bleached. I've had items that were yellowed with age but could not be bleached without ruining part of the garment. I'd lather it up and let it hang in the sun like that. Rinse, lather repeat a few times with particularly yellowed fabric. Item is now perfectly white, very little fading of anything that isn't white and it smells clean, fresh and new. It's sad that right now for 2 bars of soap they are asking $44. YES FOURTY-FOUR dollars for 2 bars of soap. My more common is is to lather and let it soak like that for a few hours in a bucket before throwing the item in the washing machine with the rest of the clothes . Most stains and heavy duty dirt will be gone. I don't use it every day but when I use it the results are excellent.

I have a LOT of clothes that require handwashing, and this soap does a great job. I grate it up with a cheese grater and keep it in a bin for ease and convenience. The smell is lemony and fresh and the soap seems to remove most odors (not super heavy odors like campfire smoke, though). This soap does a good job in getting my clothes clean. It removes food and dirt marks very well. I particularly like this soap for handwashing my cashmere - my cashmere is left fluffy, soft, and lemony fresh. The only downside that I have found with this soap is that it gives me hives if I don't rinse my clothes well enough. I don't tend to react this way to products, so I would say that this one could potentially be irritating if you have sensitive skin. I rinse really well, though, and love this soap. There are probably lots of uses for this soap. I just use it for handwashing clothes and for that, I give it 5 stars. Can't beat the price either as a little goes a long way!

I give this a 4 star overall because I'm still testing my DIY laundry soap which is: 1 grated bar of Sunlight + 1cup washing soda + 1 cup Borax - blend until fine mixture, use between 2-4 tablespoons per load (3-4 seems to be right for me). I only wash in cold water and it doesn't seem that the Sunlight fully dissolves. That said, I'm playing around with blending it finer, or pre mixing with water or when to add it (bottom, top, when the washer is full?). It smells great and is doing a good job with cleaning my laundry despite a couple of soap specks here or there. I get about 11 loads at 3tbsp per load for the recipe, and it comes out to about 0.30$CAD a load in detergent (including the cost of Borax and Washing soda). Not necessarily a huge cost saver to DIY vs buying detergent on sale, but it's a bit more eco friendly which is why I'm trying it out.
