If you understand what this does, it is great for that and that alone.
What it will not do: Boil water or freeze your drink. What it will do: Keep your soda cans chilled to stay cool longer. (Also beer cans.) What it will do: Keep your coffee warm (not hot) so you don't get a cold mouthful. Anything with a base wider than a soda can will not work with this, the depressed contact surface keeps condensation from getting all over in return (put a napkin between surface and cup to absorb moisture if you like). Any thick material cups or containers will delay the heating and cooling effect. This will be as noisy as a laptop fan, so aim it away from you and do not put anything acoustically reflective behind it, then you will barely hear it at all since. So 5 stars for doing exactly what it can do for a 25$ device. This one has a place in my laptop bag now for when I am on the go, oh yeah, it is quite durable while being a little weighty, but that keeps it from sliding around. The only improvement I can think of to this device would be detachable/retractable prongs to prevent accidental knock overs. 'Kay, thanks!

Not bad for the money
I like the cooler/warmer beverage coaster. I haven't tried the warming feature yet but the cooling feature works within some limits. The active part of the coaster is about 2 1/2 inches in diameter so it will only work on bottles, glasses. or mugs that have that size bottom. Also, the beverage must already be cool because this unit will not cool anything. It WILL help the cool beverage stay cool for a longer period of time then without it. That said, it works for me because I drink a great deal of water through out my work day at my computer. For that purpose it is good. Hope this helps.

Doesn't keep things as cool as I would otherwise like but still does its job.

Doesn't Keep Drinks Cool
The heating/cooling plate is just a bit larger than a can of soda, so you must use a glass or mug that is that small at the base too. All of my glasses have either a concave bottom, or a very thick base. You can't have a glass with a thin, flat bottom, as that wouldn't be structurally sound. Unfortunately the plate on this cooler doesn't get cold enough to transfer far into the glass. Keeping a glass of milk on this cooler didn't make much of a difference.. the milk still warmed up to room temperature over time. This device might be fine for soda cans, since aluminum transfers heat much more efficiently than glass. Though given the inefficiency of this cooling plate, you're probably better off just using a coozy. I didn't use the hot-plate feature, as the plate is too small to use with many of my mugs. For keeping mugs warm, I use a Mr. Coffee heating plate that has a much bigger surface: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CO89T8/ The Kadip device says it only gets 5 degrees above & below room temperature. For cooling, that just isn't enough. I don't know how many degrees change the Mr. Coffee warming plate is capable of, but it sure seems like it warms up more than 5 degrees. It keeps a large mug full of tea drinkably warm all day. And when you get to the bottom of the mug and only have a few gulps of tea left, it can get downright HOT! So the Mr. Coffee mug warmer is OUTSTANDING for the price, IMO. (And it LASTS! I've had my Mr. Coffee mug warmer for SEVEN YEARS!) Very disappointed with the Kadip cooler/warmer. Returning for refund.

Works great if you understand what it can/can't do
Works well if you have reasonable expectations. I bought it to keep a small pot of wax warm or to cool a piece of wax or metal that has gotten heated from grinding. Works perfectly. I have also had a hot coffee on it and it works well to keep an already hot cup hot. Similarly, it keeps an already cold drink cold longer. It is not designed to heat or cool a room temperature soda/coffee. As to the reviewer that said it only works with a computer... I think she/he expected a standard American outlet plug and not the USB connection. Works perfectly in any USB or wall wart. (I haven't tried with a high amperage newer wall wart)

Works just OK
Works to keep a warm drink warm or cold drink cool, not cold though. Better than just sitting on the table warming up. Be aware though that the cooling plate is small and instructions say best works when flat bottom is wholly touching the plate. Cans of soda only have a rim touching so not the sellers fault. Overall I’m still using it as it’s the only option out there.

Terrible product. Enough said.
Wanted to keep coffee drinkable. Not even close. Keep shopping unless you want just a little less than warm. Heating pad is very small. Doesn't fit most of my cups.
