Avent bottle brush - SO GOOD for the $$, we ended up purchasing a second one!!
For the $3.82 we spent for this here on Amazon, what a well made, functional brush!! This brush is so good, we purchased a second. Compared to other brushes out there for more $$, it is a bargain. I use it for many things, but mainly as a bottle brush for the following - a Zojirushi Thermal Carafe, two 1 qt Thermos's, a Zojirushi Tuff Slim and Stainless mug, to clean the inside of my Freilng French Press, and more. This a great brush for basically any container, carafe, vase, etc that you cannot get your mitts inside to clean! We got two because the one brush that is used for coffee vessels does not get used for other containers - it is dedicated to coffee vessels. The bristles are not overly stiff, not are they overly soft - they are just right for what we use it for. They bristles have enough staying power to remove any crud, but not too stiff so it does not miss spots. Likewise, the bristles are not too soft that they can't remove the crud - they are just right. ***NOTE - if your bottle / container opening is less than 1 1/4" wide, look elsewhere. For instance, this does not fit into the top of our small mouthed Nalgene bottles, which are closer to 1". For that, we use the OXO Bottle Brush, which works great for that. Also note, this brush is not overly long as it is made for baby bottles. I have other brushes to complement as mentioned, especially when the container is deep. I reach for this brush first, then finish up with the longer brushes where it is required. My wife uses it for her Camelback bottle, her Zojirushi Cool Bottle, her vases, and other vessels around the kitchen. Like me, she likes the construction and optimal stiffness of the bristles... You could spend a lot more and get a lot less... for under $4 it is hard to go wrong with this brush. This makes a nice complement to our OXO Bottle brush, and our Bürstenhaus Redecker 13.6-inch Soft Horsehair Bottle Brush... with these three tools, there is not many bottles, vases, containers or vessels we can't clean. Oh, and of course it works well for baby bottles!! (which we don't need now that my sons are 14). Five stars all the way! Thanks for reading!

Very Happy with this Purchase!
This is a great bottle brush. It works in just about any size container. It even squeezes into those slim tube-like containers for storing breast milk (I wasn't sure it would). It is more expensive than most bottle brushes, but it is definitely worth it because it works better, doesn't have to be replaced frequently (if ever), is easier to clean/rinse the soap off of, and cleans all bottle and pump parts very easily. Unlike most bottle brushes, this one has more spaced out bristles that are stronger and more flexible. Those flexible bristles are what make it possible to squeeze it into small containers and clean every nook and cranny of the bottle and pump parts that have a lot of nooks and crannies. The strength of the bristles keeps it from losing its shape and function after squeezing it into those nooks and crannies. No matter how much I abuse it (by using it to clean those small milk storage containers), it never shows. Plus it doesn't have that gross falling apart sponge thing at the end that others have. I also have the Munchkin Sprout Drying Rack and this bottle brush fits perfectly into the little cup container at the top of it.

We LOVE this bottle brush!
Did I mention that we LOVE this bottle brush? We just replaced two of these with the same brush because we enjoy them so much. In fact, I purchased 5 in the off chance Avent stops making them. We use them in the Avent bottles and they are stiff enough to clean any milk residue but soft enough to not scratch the bottle. While I prefer a small brush for the bottle nipple, the hard nubbed end does the trick. We still push our finger down in there to make sure that the path/holes in the nipple are clean. However, this brush and a little Dawn get these bottles squeaky clean. ...and being the germophobic parents that parents are, we still chuck the Avent rings, lids, and nipples into a container next to the bottles and run the load on sanitize. We even run the bottle brush and the retired bottle brush through the dishwasher on the top rack next to the bottles. It hasn't melted yet! As our minions got older we use this to clean the sippy cups, sports bottles, Nalgene bottles (larger mouths), Mommy's breakfast shake container, the Ninja mixer, cups, glasses, and Grammy has even used the old brush on dishes as the bristles wore out after 2 1/2 years. We really enjoy these brushes and purchased 5 to ensure that we would have some for the years to come. This is a GREAT bottle brush and a fantastic addition to the hygiene. Soon we will be completely out of bottles but not completely out of these brushes!

Your Best Bet!
This is the best bottle brush I've used, and I'm pretty sure I've tried them all! Here are my criteria for a good bottle brush and how the Phllips AVENT brush stacks up. 1. Can be used on bottles of all sizes: This brush easily gets in and out of standard sized and narrow bottles (like pump bottles). 2. Durable: I've had this brush for several months and it is still going strong. There was another brush I really liked, but it just didn't hold up well. This brush has no foam to break off, no metal pieces that rust, and bristles that can take a decent beating. 3. Quality bristles that get the job done: Some of the brushes I've tried had bristles that were so soft they were ineffective or so hard you could barely get them inside the bottle. These bristles are just right and do a great job cleaning both bottles and pump parts. 4. Doesn't douse you with dirty water: This brush doesn't splash dirty water all over you when you pull it out of the bottle, like so many of the others do. Gross. Don't buy every bottle brush on the market like I did. This is your best bet!

best brush period.
2 kids and a trillion bottles, sippy cups, thermoses later this has been the only brush to last staying in our "sponge bowl" for longer than a month (it's actually lasted longer than a year!). all the other brushes i've purchased have "died" after a month of repeated use. FYI - ANYTHING with a spongy part will fall apart period. the ones where the bristles are twisted around metal? the bristles permanently bend after repeated use and the metal starts scratching the inside of the bottles. the ones that are compacted/layered meshy fabric? bacteria farm - especially if you're CONSTANTLY washing bottles/pump parts - it never really gets a chance to dry out except at night. what i love: narrow head means it can go into narrow-mouthed bottles - the millions i used while pumping breastmilk for both kids. no, it doesn't get inside the breast-shields well, but it's not what it's meant for. yes, it doesn't get FULLY into the nipple of the bottle, but i've found that when i just push the nipple to invert it while scrubbing the inside, it gets the job done. it was great for scrubbing the parts of our borne free bottles. when ours finally wears down - i'll get a replacment because it's the perfect size to wash our narrow-mouthed coffee/tea thermoses!

why is it so hard to buy a bottle brush?
I swear sometimes I think buying things on Amazon complicates things more than it should. I just wanted a bottle brush for my baby's bottles and my pump accessories. I don't have time to go the store (for anything really) so yippee, I can get it on Amazon. Easy Breezy, right? Wrong. I spent way more time than I should deciding how to spend six bucks. Suddenly, nipple brushes became of great importance to me. I don't remember why I finally decided on this brush. I think because it just looked cool and chic (and probably because my brain was going into paralysis). All the reviews I read about bottle brushes have melted together now. Now for why you are reading this review. Here is why I like this brush: 1. The bristles are soft but sturdy enough to scrub. 2. The nipple cleaner end is not a brush (it's just the a tapered end with some ridges on it), but I still use it inside the nipples, not sure if it does anything or if it was even meant for that, but I feel like I have to do it. What I like about the end not being a brush is that I can just stick the brush in with my utensils on my dish rack to dry, and I don't have to worry about the "nipple end" getting moldy or collecting germs because it won't dry properly. 3. For the mamas who think getting splattered when you pull the the brush out is the most awful thing ever, this brush is your dream come true. Just make sure the brush side is away from you when you pull it out of the bottle, and voila, no soapy splash on your face. 4. If you shove the brush end at the correct angle inside the nipple and squish the top few bristles in there, it does a decent job of cleaning the milk residue out. 5. No metal parts, no rusting. The only thing I don't like: 1. This brush sucks for cleaning pump accessories...so, I have to use a nipple brush part of an old bottle brush to clean my pump accessories. It's a cool brush. Get it. It's just a few bucks. Your time is worth more than that. Don't get Amazon Review Syndrome.

Why couldn't I have found you sooner my love?
So, some worthwhile good advice? I say try this brush. We use first years breastflow bottles with soothie nipple, one tiny wal mart bottle and the rest are playtex ventaire which I love. This brush works well on ALL the parts, and if you've used ventaire you know you have 4 things to wash with each bottle. The thing with this advent brush is the brush itself is REALLY nice and sturdy, no flimsy crap there and weirdly the end is twisted with ridges for nipple cleaning, when I first saw it I was very much hesitant to think anything without bristles would clean nipples, but this thing works. Please, I've bought SO MANY DAMN Brushes!! Just save time and buy the advent one. IT's WELL MADE and so much less stress, I think it actually helps me clean faster too. I also think it produces more suds when scrubbing. Seriously, I like this brush, it would be 6 stars if you could stand it upright somehow, but I'm looking into a decorative way of keeping it on the counter. A lot of people wont care though and even if you do, please just try this brush anyway, you'll convert like the rest of us!

Close to perfect
I bought this brush because mine, a Munchkin brand with a sponge on top, lasted 2 weeks. When I saw this one I thought it was going to be too big but I can clean almost all my baby stuff with it. Bellow I give you a list of things I clean with it, as a reference: - Avent bottles - Playtex advance bottles - "Medela Pump in Style" milk storage bottles - Ameda electric pump milk storage bottles - Medela and Ameda "pump breast cones" (you need to push a tittle bit but it will go all the way to the end with the bigger size cones and almost to the end with the regular size cone) - Similac milk storage bottles - All the bottle nipples from the Avent and playtex bottles. - All parts of the Lansinoh manual pump. Some people complains about the other end of the brush, the one intended for the nipples, because it's hard plastic and they say it doesn't clean properly. I do not agree with that. If you have your stuff in hot soapy watter for at least 5 minutes, there is no problem at all. The only little negative thing is that the bristels at the end of the brush bent a little bit and didn't return to the original position. Maybe I am too energenic cleaning my bottles..? :)
