First off, let me say I had no clue how to play chess, so I bought this to learn — and I’m so glad I did! The GoChess board came beautifully packaged, and I really appreciated how carefully everything was packed. Each chess piece was individually protected, and the board itself was well-secured. Setup was an absolute breeze. Connecting it to the app was quick, easy, and totally seamless. I’ve already played a few games against the AI, and I’ve actually learned quite a bit just from experimenting and playing around on it the last two days. I’m also very happy with the size. I chose the Mini instead of the regular board, and it’s the perfect fit — not too big, not too small. It feels just right. I’m looking forward to diving deeper into learning strategy and technique, and this board will definitely be an amazing tool to help me grow. I also love that I can play solo against the AI, and eventually play with other people online or in person once I know what I’m doing. Highly recommend — especially if you’re a beginner like me!

This isn’t just some fancy toy, it’s the real deal. The GoChess Mini plays with you, teaches you, lights up your next move, and connects with Chess .com and Lichess. After just a short time using it, I’ve already picked up things I hadn’t noticed in years of casually playing online. It helps you understand the game better. I also love the high quality of the product and its top-notch design, it feels solid and looks great on the table. Puzzles are supported as well, and I’m still exploring other cool features. Can’t wait to keep learning with it.. So far, I see it as a real game changer.

This is my second GoChess chess set; I also have the GoChess Lite Modern, the Mini’s big brother. I own almost all of the chess boards out there and this one is my favorite. From the moment I opened the set I was impressed with the styling, weight and feel of the pieces as well as the very thin usb-c chargeable board. The board has sensors in it to detect pieces and movement as well as LEDs which allow it to provide different levels of hints and blunders by lighting up these LEDs in different colors. There are other sets with hint systems but this is the only board that lights up the board in green on the white or black side denoting which sides turn it is. This is very handy when playing online like on chess.com because sometimes you can lose track of whose turn it is. It is also the only board with a hint system that tells you not only which space is the best space to move when you lift up a piece but it also can tell you which piece is the best piece to move. This is totally unique to all of the chess boards being sold. From playing against the many levels of the built-in AI to playing bots and real people from around the world on chess.com and lichess you will have more fun playing chess than you ever have before. It’s a great learning tool as well and will boost your ELO to new heights if that’s what you want to do or just play casually and make new friends from around the world. No hi tech chess board is worth the money if there is a lack of customer service to back it up. I have interacted with the customer service several times and they have been nothing short of friendly and responsive answering all of my questions and getting any issues Inhave found fixed. For instance, I found a bug with the IOS version of the all (they also have an android version) and within days it was fixed and a new version was posted in the App Store. The customer service is AMAZING !

As a chess player, I had high expectations for the GoChess Mini, and I must say it doesn’t disappoint. The compact design is impressive, providing a fully functional smart board without sacrificing quality or precision. One of the standout features is the seamless connection with the GoChess app. The LED lights are a subtle but powerful addition, making it easy to follow moves, explore openings, and enhance gameplay. Although I was initially concerned about the smaller size compared to traditional tournament boards, the GoChess Mini proved to be practical and highly portable—perfect for analysis sessions or travel games. The app’s integration with online platforms and Lichess allows playing against strong opponents worldwide, including AI simulations at different levels. The option to save and study games is something I hope they’ll expand further—having a way to import or export PGNs directly to the board would be ideal for advanced study. But overall, it’s clear that this product was designed with both beginners and experienced players in mind, making it a great tool for sharpening chess skills. Update a few months later: My kids took a few chess lessons at our local library and are now using the board to play (with AI hints). I challenged them to figure out why the AI is advising them to make a move and before they pick up a piece, where they think the AI will want them to move it to. It's been a great learning tool for them. Still very happy with my purchase!

I just spent my whole weekend playing chess! This board game is not only beautiful (the board and each and every piece is high-quality) but also offers a variety of playing options. You can just use it as you would for any other board, but you can also install an app and either play against an AI, or online. It's easy to setup and use, guaranteeing hours of fun and play. The board itself is of a perfect size - not too small, nor too big, making it perfect to take with you when you travel. Definitely worth every penny spent for it!

Liked it, but it needs to work without the app. Also, for this price, I would expect each piece to have a unique magnetic ID, but they're all the same (i.e., the board doesn't know if you put a queen in the king's spot or any other piece). Looks like it works great with the app, but got it for a my four-year-old who we don't want on a phone. The board is sleek and nice, but it should have a feature to automatically play against AI if no phone is connected.

Really nice user interface. Play online, against internal AI or as a regular chessboard. Pieces and board are nice quality.

The layout is good and visual. It is outstanding equipment to develop your game when integrated with the APP. I am a happy buyer. The points for improvents are: (1) pieces could be heavier, (2) the board should be able to identify the pieces. For a new version i would recommend to create a bigger board that could flip for transportation.
