Hopefully I'll never use it for home defense but it's light, a good length and feels super strong. I'm going to buy a couple more. A very well made product.

Got this for apartment defense! Its easy to use and has some heft to it. Just get a handle wrap! The material is slick and can slip from your hands if you don't have something to hold onto.

Use to carry a Louisville Slugger in my backseat (for “protection”) but it was too long, and didn’t make a whole lot of sense for maneuvering in tight spaces. The quality, heft, and durability of Cold Steel’s Brooklyn series blunts are outstanding. I got the Brooklyn Basher but now wish I got the Shorty instead, as it’s a little heavy and still a bit long for me (5’4”, 110 #s). I may just get the Shorty and give the Basher to hubby to leave in his truck. Cold Steel is a brand I highly recommend. I have a battle-ready full-tang katana by cold steel and it surpasses any blade available for mass retail that i’ve seen thus far.

It's a great product and can hold up to impact much better than wood or aluminium bats. I chose this particular model because it's about the right length to use one-handed. However, it is much heavier than wood or aluminium. While the description says it weighs about a pound a half, most of it is at the end of the stick which means considerable torque. If you can handle this weight at the end of a mostly top heavy stick, then this is for you. If not, go for the smaller one.

I bought this to protect my property from 'hunter-gatherers' who have been known to pilfer the area at night. They'll take rakes, hoses, lawnmowers, BBQ's, even car batteries. I own a gun, but carrying a firearm for property protection is begging for a $300k court case! I bought the bat so were I to have to defend myself while investigation some noises in my yard some night I'm much less likely to be made an 'example of' by the local D.A. were I to do so with gun. Besides... I really wouldn't want to shoot someone to save my stuff. But even shooting a warning shot in the air can invite an 'attempted murder' charge now-a-days. This Brooklyn Basher bat is the sensible way to go if you intend to step outside your home to scare-off a thief. As for the bat, it's a little shorter than a baseball bat, heavy enough to do the job... but light enough for fast response. The guy who designed it knew what he was do'in.

This thing has some serious weight to it—in a good way! At 20oz (~1.25 lbs), it’s heavier than I expected, so I’m using both hands to control the swing and nail the right trajectory. Feels solid, just takes a bit more focus to wield properly. Perfect for ladies.

Love it! Got it on sale. Rarely use it, but have smashed many things. Stands up great to cinder blocks, although there is some hand vibration. Had it for probably around 2 years now. Works great and very durable. A classic cold steel product.
