Now Your Talking My Language
I'm a cast-iron nerd. If I was rich and famous, with a super large kitchen, cast-iron would be all I'd have. Not that cast-iron is a do everything pot or pan.1) You'd be foolish to use a pure, cast-iron only Dutch oven for anything to do with fond, soups, chilis, or stews. You'd never be able to keep a good enough coating on it, and it would always be rusty.2) Frying just an egg is going to take you twice as long, just to heat up the pan to a proper temperature.3) Ditto for both points one and two, just to make a sauce or gravy.4) Cast-iron coffee pots or tea kettles can give your drink an exceptionally good taste. But, you better be brewing only one type of bean or leaf ever. Otherwise, you're going to be getting some real odd tasting results. So that's why they make enameled cast iron.1) While enameled is pretty much non-stick, don't expect it to stay that way; for the next 20 years.2) Enameled's primary purpose is to protect the cast-iron. And that it does exceptionally well. Now to this one:1) I looked for slight mistakes...blemishes...thickness changes, in the enameling, and found none.2) I've got heavier cast-iron. But this one has some good heft to it. It will keep its temperature regular, quite well.3) The price of $39.99 (10/28/2024) made me skeptical about the quality, until I found out that it's made in China. And there, even with same exact quality, Chinese can't sell for as much as US, French or Canadian.4) While one can debate of if round or oval is better, with more usages, that's a never ending debate. This ones height to diameter is in good proportion. And that's what counts.5) Only thing not to my liking; is the nob of the lid. I would have liked it to be similar to the handles on the pot itself. (Take your wooden stir-spoon, slip the handle into the grip, and you can lift the lid to look inside, without getting anywhere close to getting burnt. Cooking on a campfire, I'd use a stick, or a branch. Keeps you well away from the fire.)

Great quality
This cast iron Dutch oven has made cooking so much easier for us. It’s true to size holding 5 qts of soup or whatever you are making. We made the best tasting chile and not only did everything turn out great it was so easy to clean afterwards. You. A make a variety of meals using this both on the stovetop or directly on the oven making it super versatile. It’s rather heavy but as I would expect being made with cast iron. It’s exactly what we had wanted and have been looking for some time.

Mades a fantastic pot road
Large, heavyweight roasting pan. It made an excellent pot roast, accommodates larger cuts of meat.OF NOTE: the residual food on the inside after 2+ hours of roasting cleaned off like butter! The inside of the lid has evenly spaced bumps that disperse accumulated moisture evenly over food. The red enamel finish is well done: no uneven spots/bumps/chips.Although the knob on the lid is large and secure, it would have been easier to use and visually pleasing if the knob matched the shape/materials of the handles (curved enamel bar).GO TO dutch oven for soups, chili, meats. Excellent for the cost.

Beautiful Heavy Dutch Oven Style Casserole, Roasting, or Bean Pot
This is a very nice quality super heavy-duty cast iron 5 quart covered dutch oven from Gibson. I personally wouldn't call it a dutch oven because those traditionally are much bigger and wider, but it is a smaller version that does the same job. It's beautiful looking perfect for serving to guests with a shiny rich red enamel, and is also versatile. You can use this as a small dutch oven for roasts and other meats, for casseroles, side dishes, or as a bean pot. I've used my old similar sized one for all these purposes, but it's getting pretty beat up so I wanted a new one. This one seems durable, well-made, heats very evenly, and keeps food hot. Just be aware that it is quite heavy and the outside will be hot a long time. It came packaged securely to prevent any damage, and I really like the little rubber clips that were slipped over the rim for the lid to sit on which helps keep the edges of the base and lid from getting scratched or chipped. I plan to keep those and use them again and again when not in use while storing it. Overall, a great cast iron cooking pot!

Very heavy, wonderful for making pot roast in the oven
This Gibson Home Addlestone 5 Quart Enamel Cast Iron Dutch Oven is a wonderful product. If you have not used enameled cast iron roasting pans before, they make a fantastic addition to your bakeware collection. The cast iron makes this Dutch oven extremely heavy, and the enamel coating inside and outside makes the roaster super easy to take care of. (When the dirty pan is cool, put it in the sink and fill it with water to soak for while and then wash with a non-scratch sponge; it's very easy to wash.) The heavy cast iron provides enveloping even heat distribution, so you can roast a chuck roast (for example) low and slow at 275 degrees for 4-6 hours and the roast will be fall-apart tender and moist. This pan came extremely well packaged and secured, so there were no bends, nicks, or irregularities in the lid or in the finish. The pan looks beautiful and the lid fits perfectly. This 5-quart Dutch oven is large enough for roasting a 3- to 5-pound beef pot roast and would easily accommodate a large whole chicken. Of course, this pan also works great on top of the stove for soups and stews. Anything that benefits from long cooking at low, even heat will turn out perfectly when cooked in enameled cast iron. This is a good value for a very well made Dutch oven.

A remarkable and stunning Dutch Oven! Absolutely love it.
This Dutch oven is stunning! It’s a beautiful red, sturdy and designed in a way that creates an efficient temperature that helps cook and heat food in an even and consistent way.It is an ample size and easily cooks a pot roast, beans, chili or can be used to make soup. It’s incredibly sturdy and really is quite a stunning.I almost feel as if I should keep it on display all the time instead of putting it away in my cupboard. It is very heavy, but that is to be expected because it is cast iron.Absolutely love it!
