FIRESTIK 3ft Fire-Fly - Light Weight Antenna - 5/8 Wave, Black, FL3B

I added this with a spring base to the cowl of my 2006 Silverado. Reception was pretty good with a cheap uniden radio. Durability was great after whacking it on the roof of a parking garage a couple times.

So the Firefly is supposed to be the lightweight more flexible version of the standard Firestik. It is definitely smaller diameter, so less wind noise, but it's about the same stiffness....maybe at most a tiny bit more flexible. Not a deal break, just understand this isn't one of those super flexible antennas.Overall nice Firestik quality, I was able to get the SWR's dialed down to about 1 to 1.20 or so on Ch 19.

Firestik makes a great antenna as it is... I was not able to tune their 2' Firestik (FS-2BK-2) to the fender/cowl mounted AM/FM/CB location, even when adding an extra couple of inches with a spring mount. The Firefly at 3' (and the spring) tuned nicely. It sways a little more, but is definitely thinner and lighter than the 2' FS-2BK-2. If you put some 7/8" or 1" shrink tubing on the spring mount, it will stabilize the sway.Anyway, it sticks up a little higher than the windshield's top edge, but I'm ok with it. It looks good and works. CB antennas perform best at their greatest length. That's just Antennas 101... A 3' Firefly is a fair compromise for the Jeep JK if you are mounting to the right-front fender, where your AM/FM antenna is already located. You will need the multiplexer (kit) from the Ridge that is Rugged if you want that look. It worked fine for me.

Very easy installation and tuning. Received 10 miles away with buildings and trees in the way.
