The hat comes double bagged to protect from mishaps during shipping.It is made from a high-quality wool fabric with excellent stitching. The wool is thick and robust. It feels just like the wool on a navy pea-coat. I tend to heavily scrutinize stitched products and I could not find any seams on this that seemed to be mis-stitched or double stitched and no loose threads. Even the back ribbons are sewn in a perfect diamond shape where they cross.The bow on the side and the backing patch behind it, are fully attached all the way around their edges. As the listing suggests, this is a perfect spot for attaching brooches or clan badges. This is probably a good place to mention that the red feather pictured in the listing is not included with this headgear (and they make no such claim either).The red pom-pom on top is very securely attached and will need fluffing whenever the bonnet is unfolded. The bonnet is extremely comfortable and fits on the head much like a military beret. Of course, this makes sense given that pipers have a military origin.All things considered, this is a fantastic addition to your bagpiper or other Scottish outfit and I would absolutely recommend it.

This is an absolutely great Glengarry bonnet;thick heavy wool, hand-stitched cockade on the left, bright red toorie on top, pair of tail ribbons trailing from behind - but without the formal dicing around the brim.I'm not a piper, but I do engage in formal Highland dress on occasionsThis hat is imported, and is labeled size 56, which indicates the circumference in centimeters. This is equivalent to a size 7, and fits true (at least, it fits my head just fine).The hat was well-wrapped and protected in double-layered plastic.The wool is thick, with reinforcements along the side walls to ensure the cap rises properly.It seems quite sturdy and well made. It's very comfortable to wear all day.

The wool is of nice quality, as is the stitching. The sides are internally reinforced so the hat will stand proud on the head. This is a nice feature as not all glengarry hats have this. The pom on top could be better, and it’s really the only thing that I don’t like on the hat. Then again, I’m sure there are others who would prefer such a small pom. The badge ribbon is secured well and looks nice even without badges or hackles. I was very happy that this hat was true to size. I wear a size 60-61cm and the sizing provided matched the actual hat upon arrival. That’s always nice. I’d say this is a nice example of a glengarry at a very reasonable price.

This hat is great quality and fits well. This hat is a new addition to my kilt set. It looks authentic. The hat is made of wool. It is not too warm to wear this hat. It would be cute to wear for a ren faire or a highland games.

As always, check your size. I am one of the weird people that generally puchases hats from a haberdashery, so I know my size well. This was a perfect fit.The hat folds flat like a military flight cap, so it is easy to take off and store without taking up a lot of space. It goes perfectly with my kilt-wear.

We got this to give to a friend with a Scottish persona on Bobby Burns night. It's not what I would consider a costume piece- instead, it's a very sturdy and well made woolen cap, specially designed to go with a kilt and the rest of the outfit. Lovely cap, and a good value.

Looks great, feels like cheaper quality materials, though. Not falling apart at the seams cheap, just not amazing.
