Game-Changer for Cat Owners
I’ve been using the PetSafe SmartSpin Litter Box for a few weeks now, and I’m honestly so glad I made the switch. Keeping up with litter box cleaning used to feel like a never-ending chore. Now, I don’t have to think about it much at all—it does all the work for me! It’s amazing how I only need to empty the waste drawer every couple of weeks. What I really love is how well it controls odours. I used to notice that “litter box smell” even with daily scooping, but with this one, there’s pretty much no smell at all. The waste is sealed away, and it just keeps everything so much fresher. The box itself is easy to clean. It’s a simple thing, but it’s been a huge help in keeping my place clean and my cat happy. Overall, I’m really pleased with this purchase and would definitely recommend it to other cat owners who want to make life a bit easier.

Good functioning litter box
I purchased this litter box a month ago and waited to see how my cats would respond to it before writing a review. Whilst the litter box has many pros, it does also come with cons.To start off, I have 6 cats and we only use wooden pellets and clay litter so it was interesting to test the PetSafe box against this since they recommend crystal litters. If you use wooden pellets, you’ll find the PetSafe box to dispose far too much of the litter - even if the litter is completely clean, which is an obvious waste. Clay litter works similarly to crystal litter, however, I found the smell of the litter against the rubber mat inside to be horrendous. At this point we were left with no choice but to try crystal litter and admittedly, it works great. We use the crystal litter from home bargains (if you’re UK based) and it’s been fine. The tray that collects the dirty litter could have a better design since it’s quite small. Again, if you have as many cats as I do then you know it’s bound to fill up quite fast.Another important thing to raise is the cleanliness of the box. If you have cats that DON’T bury their poop then this WILL smudge against the box when it’s rotating. It’s an easy clean but it can be really annoying especially when it gets stuck between the plastic grid. I personally like to wash the rubber mat that holds the litter when I’m cleaning the entire litter box - rubber of course will hold a smell, but this can be quite difficult at times to take out and put back in. The last time I did this I ended up ripping the edge of the mat so be weary of this. You’ll also find the rubber mat to ‘bubble’ up when it’s rotating - as long as the mat isn’t falling off then this isn’t anything to be worried about. The litter box does protrude an odour, the deodoriser can only mask this for a few days. It’s a quiet machine and you can choose whether you want it to beep or have lights on by using the app. The app is very easy to use and is straightforward to set up.The PetSafe box is extremely useful if you have a multi-cat household and don’t want to come home to the worst smell of your life. It really does save the time and hassle of cleaning up after your cats. What I find to be great is the app and how you can choose the auto-cleaning time (this ranges from 1 minute to an hour). The box is quite high, I purchased steps for this however my cats won’t use the steps and jump inside the box anyway - I have a dwarf cat that jumps in just fine, for reference.Would I buy this again? Probably. It’s a really big litter box that does the job and holds value for money in the long run.

Great litter box, can't fault it!
Really impressed with this litter box, was really easy to set up and get going with app. My cat has taken to it really well as we kept the same litter - Ever Clean. Wont go back to the old school litter boxes now! Well done PetSafe

Pros and Cons
The media could not be loaded. So I want to start out with I do like it but it has a lot of teething issues.Starting with Pros*When it works it works quite well as long as conditions are perfect*I know the cats are using it as it notifies me when the app is working*When the app is working you can sometimes work out which cat visited based on weight differences. SOMETIMES*I can pause and start it from the app, when the app is working*I can pause a cycle on the machine*Sensor tends to tell me when the waste basket is full, so far has worked.*Small but big at the same time, lets face it these machines tend to take a lot of space, but I've seen bigger, and often the machine is big but the space is cramped for a cat yo use, it isn't good for cats to be cramped into a small space to potty, I'd say under cat recommendations this just just about is big enough to go it, spin round comfortable and litter area but there's also cons on the space, I have average cats, I'm not sure I'd recommend this for large breeds.*Raised from the floor, for me this is a pro but some people in reviews have had cats dislike this, you could always get some little steps, mine have no issues jumping in and my small chihuahua can't get in to eat their poop (bonus).*Fits small/medium bin bags well, though I like their bags, so you can get bags easily for it, just make sure the bag isn't narrow as has a wider area.*All going perfectly it seems easy to clean*Easy to remove waste basket and change bag. I do this roughly every week or 2 weeks I think, I have 2 cats.*Nice deodoriser, contains smells well (initial smell will depend on your animal, animal feed and litter in tray, if they made a smelly poop it will smell initially, but once it goes in the waste basket seems contained. Pet poop smells will vary pet to pet, but it is open, so be aware if they have smelly poops especially if they don't cover them it might initially stink.*Set the delay timer WHEN IT WORKS, which I find I change to 20 or 30 minutes to allow the litter to set or waste to dry if they didn't cover it properly.*Easy to clean compared to some I have had*I got this for just over £310, and market wise it is cheaper than the top competitors and seems bot to have some issues I've seen some top brands have, though it has it's own issues, don't think any of these machines are perfect, all have pros and cons. It's much better than their round one that lookes a bit like a food mixer bowl, that one constantly broke and was filled with issues, so a mass improvement, I've not tested their tray rake ones as I've seen they aren't great for cats with poorly tummies.Cons:* I wish it took a bit more litter as it is a bit shallow, but a few automated litters seem shallow, depending on model, I found I had to do a trial run a few times.* As not enclosed this can smell initially, but I don't hold it against the machine as not all cats like enclosed litters and once the waste goes into the bin I don't smell anything, so this is under pro and con and it doesn't bother me but I wouldn't place this next to a bed if your pet has smelly poops.*Litter leaks out as the lip is small just at the entrance it tracks out easily, this could possibly be fixed changing litters or having a litter collector at the base, I've seen some cat litters with litter collecting steps which I think this machine could surely include, however at the price point I can't complain too much about this.*Leakage on rotation, as there's no real lip all around litter and sometimes dirty litter sometimes drops out when rotating, this is a big negative, occasionally I walked past it and a a few lumps have rolled out onto the floor for my dog to eat. Or the automated hoover to play with.... Erg. But the worst part is it sometimes accumulates under the magnetic ring, which is ok usually to clean out if solid enough but a pain is sloppy as it has creases in the plastic to wipe. And I feel it shouldn't do this.* App doesn't always connect properly and bugs, so when I first installed it all went ok, I changed the preset timer from 3 minutes to 30, to prevent slops going into the machine, then the thing semi-worked, I could pause and play so was connected but no other settings worked, I had to remove and add it again to get it to work.If the machine disconnects it doesn't remember the settings MAJOR ISSUE especially if your cat has a bad tummy and the timer resets to 3 as you can see in the images. I had a powercut and it reset itself back to 3 minutes unknown to me. My cat had a bad tummy and after 3 minutes ot smeared it everywhere, slop came out, went into the WiFi button, lodged itself underneath the magnetic ring. It was easy ish yo clean compared to some I've had but could have been avoided if the timer stayed to what I set it. We get power cuts from time to time so this is a massive issue and I have a cat with tummy issues so it's a pain.* You are meant to press the start rotation button for 3 seconds to get it to have an A to add litter, ARG the frustration on this, be aware if you put pressure on it in the wrong way it just thinks a cat went in and you just end up initiating and pausing the machine which can be frustrating, try not to put too much pressure anywhere around the button, try to avoid touching around the button, press directly with not too much pressure. I feel like this needs a seperate button cause I barely put much pressure on the panel where the bitton is by pressing on it side ways and it was setting off the cat litter used it sensor / rotate / pause, I have to go straight in delicately on the button for 3 seconds.*Pet weights are way off, I don't mind that you can't customise each cat by weight ot chip etc, but the weights are way off sometimes, my cats are 4.2 and 4.4 kg, and it reads 1kg, 3kg.... Randomly.*I advise you fill it first and when it calibrates see how much is left, I used the Katkin to the max line and lots ended up in the bin compartment. I am trialing mixing and other litters to see results, the Katkin seems to track out more than the Sainsbury's clay clumping when they jump out. But I had loads in the waste drawer and have to be careful how much I fill it not to waste it and it can mean it is a bit shallow where most cats like deepish litter, if the litter is shallow or not large enough they are less likely to cover their waste.*During the glitch when it could pause and play from app but nothing else worked it also showed no data. You will need to delete it from the app and install again.*Feedback Support bit on the app??? I dunno used it to report issues and no clue as to what happens as never got replies or the replies are hidden somewhere. Might be best contacting them via email. I contacted a few times via app to report app issues, feel like what I write disappears into space.Despite the horrible mess above I managed to clean it as best I can, most of it was fairly easy to clean, though some traces are possibly inside the Wi-fi button which is a massive thumbs down.I'm very split on this machine but I am not rich and on the poorer side so can't afford to just change machines or buy a new one, I had to wait months to get this one, the last one mixing bowl model was a lot worse and cons outweighed the pros. This one has a lot of pros, but some very significant cons. But when it is working, 20 minute timer....... the pros outweigh the cons, mind litter can still get stuck in the magnetic strip even when well dried.Side note:My cat is elderly and occasionally has a bad tummy as has a sensitive tummy, vet has said she's healthy otherwise just a sensitive tummy, they couldn't find the cause. In case anyone thinks she needs to see a vet. She has regular check ups and isn't a regular thing.Hopefully I remembered to cover everything.Apologies for spelling or grammar errors, I'm dyslexic and on the spectrum and though I re-read everything multiple times can still miss a lot of errors.Would I buy it again. I couldn't afford the top range ones and lower range had their own issues, I also didn't want an unknown brand as some no brands have killed cats in the past so didn't want to risk it. So despite the issues and not overly happy with some of the cons I might buy it again as the price point and brand is what I could afford, considering even top brands have issues, I'd say ot is a 3.6 stars but not quite a 4 as after the I just had to clean which would have been avoided or at least way less messy had the timer not reset itself, it is a major thumbs down. And wouldn't let me mark a 4 or more. If your cat doesn't have bad tummies this shouldn't be so bad and likely issues maybe a 4*
