Review: Very good advice - I enjoyed seeing history and break down Review: Must buy, if just for the quality - I hesitated to buy this book, because I already had the manual from well known printer of car manuals, which frequently gets referred to as "assembly is the reverse of disassembly" Grahame Bristow's manual is everything that the other manual is missing. From the quality of the paper (other well know manual feels like old newsprint) to the quality and quantity of pictures, it's simply a joy to pick up. Simply put, if I could have written only one book, I would be incredibly proud of myself if I had been the author of this book. If he writes any more of these, I'd buy it even if I didn't have the car to go along with the manual.

Must buy, if just for the quality
I hesitated to buy this book, because I already had the manual from well known printer of car manuals, which frequently gets referred to as "assembly is the reverse of disassembly" Grahame Bristow's manual is everything that the other manual is missing. Very helpful to First Timer
This is my first time with a restoration project and Bristow's book includes drawings and asides that are very helpful in trying to figure out which parts go where and in what order. My project Sprite arrived disassembled and in assorted boxes where they have been for 15 years. If you are experienced with Austin Healey Sprites and restoration you can probably work fine from the BL workshop manual, but I really appreciate the step by step examples this book offers.

A standard work that I initially read from start to finish, and now refer to for specific topics before going into YouTube

While I was walking around the Madrid Retromobile show last February, I found a copy of a spridget book I had never had the chance to check: Restoring Sprites and Midgets.... Within a few seconds I could realize this book was different to all books I have previously read, it had plenty of interesting diagrams and schematics that I had never seen, and the text was full of nice tips and history. All written with a great sense of humor. But the book was expensive so decided to calm down and take a look on internet to see if I could find it with a better price. As it was a modern book, I was not in a hurry that I could loose the opportunity. Finally I could find on amazon.co.uk a new example from an online shop for a great price, and fortunately I had a friend in London to whom I could send it for a very little shipping cost (sending directly to Madrid would have been much more expensive). Yesterday he came to Madrid and have it to me (thanks Pedro!!!) I think I can truly say this book is the best one I have so far. The original workshop manual is a must, why?' because it's the official book, and although it will always refer to the official tool number XXXX, it's mandatory to have it, specially if like me you can find an original vintage example. The Haynes are important to have, why?? no idea... maybe because it's so common to have them... They are very similar to the original workshop manual, but with some details not covered on the original manual. Well worth, if you can find it cheap on ebay. Not worth to buy it new from the shop. I am restoring a 1960 Bugeye and found that there is much more information in this book than the original shop manual. Each procedure is described in detail accompanied with photos. The only drawback is the photos are all in black and white and lack detail. The book is well written with the English authors own brand of humour. You will find this book a great asset if you are doing any maintenance work on your Sprite or Miget.

This book is not represented as well as it should be. I was looking for as much information as possible, relating to Mark "1" Austin Healey Sprites. This publication caters to the later model MG Midgets, and Sprites. It is interesting to read, but the assistance to the novice is restricted. You will have to dig deep to find most assistance that you might need. I am certain that there are other publications that would be of better guidance.
