Beginning Programming with C For Dummies
C**N
If you want to learn the fundamentals of C programming, this book is a good place to get them.
My opinion is that this is a good book for anyone interested in learning the basics of the C programming language. My opinion is based on three things the author has done and continues to do.1. All disciplines have their own jargon. Computer programming might be one of the worst. Because it can't be eliminated entirely but because students must learn it eventually, the author has minimized the use of programming jargon but left enough to be more educational than confusing.2. The author answers his email and is open to suggestions as long as they are not abusive.3. The author maintains a website that features errata, updates, and references. For those who should know better but might not, here are things the author does not do.1. The author does not open skulls and pour in knowledge. There is no book that can be placed under a pillow and subsequently, its contents will be absorbed by osmosis while individuals sleep on it.2. If individuals are students enrolled in an accredited (or non-accredited) institution, the author does not do their homework. In conclusion, I believe that with the aid of this book and if individuals apply themselves, they will learn one of two things; the fundamentals of the C programming language and that they have an aptitude for C programming, or the fundamentals of the C programming language and that they have no aptitude for C programming. Either way, they will get their money's worth.

great for beginners
Dan Gookin introduces programming concepts very well. I was compelled to write this review because I found myself actually having fun while learning. If you're considering learning about programming or the C language, I encourage you to try this book.

The Best I've Seen So Far.
I received the book and was immediately impressed. It assumes no prior knowledge and is very easy to read.It is written in simple language with an underlying sense of humour. It uses the CodeBlocks IDE which one downloads on line and the first chapter walks you through this IDE.The author appear to know his stuff and has a great way of presenting the facts and methods for those of us learning to code.Every step is covered in an easy to understand way and it really works! I really feel I have progressed in my quest to start coding and that I will be able to talk to my grandchildren without feeling out of my depth. This is one of the most detailed, but easy to follow computer programming books, that I've ever seen. It may be the only one you need to get to a reasonable level of competence with the C Language.

buy it
Excellent is all I can sayI hate the i and j variables that is the standard variables used in all books but they are not used here in this book.second thing is that the way that he explained all the concepts is very funny .It was a little bit tough to get with the pointer part ,but now pointers are too easy.I think you should buy data structures by tremblay and sorenson with this book ,first read this book and when you come to the linked list part use the sorenson book for the algorithms of linked lists ,etc....conclusion is :if you are pursuing computer engineering and if you want to easily understand the code for operating systems , or if you are told by someone that you need to make a program that handles this machine, then you can make a program in C.I mean to say is you can implement anything you think in the computer with C.I am using c++ for dummies too.I like Dummies series and Wiley publishers.always nice books :)
