MiditechUSB MIDI Host, MIT-00155

I bought this to use with an OP-1 and an OP-Z, to send USB MIDI data to other MIDI devices (synths/samplers). I spent a long time trying to get this to work and despite getting the green light to display as expected, I could not get any MIDI data out of this thing. I've been using MIDI for some years now, so I don't think the issue was me not doing something right. I'd already checked with another online retailer (Thomann) and they confirmed that this device was compatible with the OP-1, so I can only think that the one I had was defective? The seller accepted my return quickly and I got a full refund. I then bought a RK-005 on eBay 2nd hand and that has worked flawlessly and easily.So this might be compatible with the OP-1 and OP-Z, but I couldn't get it to work and I suspect the one I received was faulty.

I wanted to connect a Casio keyboard to a MidiTech Sound module so I could use its wonderful organ sounds as well as those in the Casio.The MidiTech USB Midi Host is tiny, about the size of a large box of matches and so easy to use.The USB socket on the back is for power.Midi In and Out sockets (5pin) are self explanatory.Plug your USB thing (in my case the Casio keyboard) into the front.The light will change from red to green if the connection is true.That's it. Keyboard and sound module now talk happily like old fish wives (their language gets funky!).Sorry. Love it. Fuss free and does what it should.

It works for some minutes and then it stops working. It needs a reset on the power supply. I contacted miditech but to no avail. They are mute.

Se, come me, avete molti strumenti MIDI hardware e vi piace suonarli direttamente (senza usare il PC o il Mac), normalmente avreste bisogno di una tastiera controller MIDI dotata di uscita DIN.Tuttavia, le tastiere con uscita DIN tendono ad essere grandi e costose.Ci sono invece moltissime tastiere (anche portatili con mini-tasti) con porta USB, pensate per essere collegate a un PC/Mac/iPad.Con questo apparecchio, che dispone di porta USB Host e di interfacce MIDI DIN, potrete collegare queste tastiere direttamente ai vostri strumenti.C'è una cosa che non mi è piaciuta, però: non è compatibile con tutte le tastiere, in quanto completamente "trasparente" come protocollo; mentre sarebbe comodo poter filtrare alcuni comandi MIDI "fastidiosi".Esempio:Ho una comoda MIDITech GaragekeyMini 37 tasti che purtroppo implementa il fastidioso (e poco supportato) "Keep Alive", in pratica trasmette continuamente uno speciale comando che disturba molti moduli hardware MIDI, rendendola di fatto incompatibile con molti synth (è il colmo, dato che è della stessa marca di questo adattatore!).Se l'adattatore filtrasse via questo comando, peraltro inutile, si eliminerebbe il problema.Altre tastiere USB hanno la cattiva abitudine di inviare "sporcizia" appena collegate, disturbando gli strumenti MIDI da comandare.Altro aspetto criticabile è il costo, piuttosto elevato per una scatoletta che alla fine si limita a ritrasmettere su seriale i comandi MIDI che riceve via USB (serve un PIC24F e poco altro).Ho finito con il costruirmi un mio adattatore che funziona decisamente meglio di questo; che rimane comunque utile e consigliabile, a patto di poter provare le tastiere USB che si vogliono usare.
