Kevin is an amazing author. I’ve read Wild Rescues and, just this morning, finished Grizzly Confidential. This is an easy but insanely informative read. I learned so much about this amazing species of bear that I will cherish forever. I find myself now wanting to know and learn even more! This book has given me the drive and passion to visit places where I can observe these amazing animals and appreciate their beauty. Bear and human coexistence is possible!

Smoothly written and very informative, Grange took me to places I can only dream of experiencing in person some day, including bear research facilities and remote areas of Alaska. Thanks for taking me along on a great reading ride!

I absolutely enjoyed every page of this book. It's like a travelogue that follows the author as he visits all the foremost grizzly bear habitat and research locations of North America. Of course all the fun facts are interesting to read about, but what struck me most was the clear respect and wonder that the author has for these bears. It must have been the adventure of a lifetime to do all this research, and there's a clear sense of joy even as the author faces some nerve-wracking encounters. If the goal of this book is to educate and inspire people to learn more about grizzly bears, it is 100% a success. I am a nature lover but can't say I had a particular interest in grizzlies before reading this book, but I loved it and wholeheartedly recommend it for any nature or animal lover.

This is a fascinating look into the people who work with bears and into the interesting personalities of bears themselves! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it gave me some good travel ideas too!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book: it's a unique blend of adventure, science, and memoir as the author confronts his fascination--and fear--of grizzly bears. Each chapter is a lense through which to view grizzly bears and I learned so much about their charismatic personalities; the hierarchy in the bear world, their fascinating hibernation physiology and the challenges they face living in a human-dominated landscape. Highly recommended!

I downloaded this book at the end of a trip to Alaska that included my first grizzly sighting and what a beautiful way to continue learning about these animals and the people who steward them in varied ways. Grange finds a way to honor and describe the qualities of bears (as individuals and as a group) without anthropomorphizing. He also succeeds in taking the reader along with him on his own learning journey, but starting from a base knowledge and credentials that make him a reliable guide. This book inspires me to learn more about our bruin neighbors… but I’ll leave the up-close encounters to the pros. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us!

Wonderful book! Loved bears before, love them more now. It’s not a fully comprehensive book on bears or bear biology but this well-written book gives you some insight on how to safely co-exist with bears. This is to include identification, behaviors, and lessen to a degree, one’s own fear of grizzlies.
