RIDGID 57018 Model C15/22 mm C-Style Close Quarters Copper Tubing Cutter Capacity, 15-22mm

I have had mine 18 months now and it’s still working well. I’ve had to change the blade and also take it apart to free up the rollers once or twice but it’s not difficult and I’ve had too do that to other slices anyway.If you do take it apart there are two tiny bits of metal in the spring to watch out for, I’ve lost one but it still seems to work! It cuts very well for me.It’s bigger than a 15mm slice so some times won’t get into a space that a normal one would. The blade is expensive- nearly half the cost of the thing new, that said it did last a good while! It’s probably a bit heavy than most as well. The drop down roller will get gummed up in old paint from pipes 🤣 that all saidIt’s good to grip and cuts well. Pretty easy to maintain if needed. Saves weight and space in my bag. And gets used most days.It could be improved as others have said and maybe it will be, but it’s a good effort.

After many months of use;This is a very good cutter, still cuts quickly, nothing snapped or broken or fallen apart.However... I have had a fairly serious issue which many other people would not have been able or bothered to fix.After prolonged use the cutters will eventually get wet. If it gets wet inside the guide wheels, they will completely seize up from rust and there is no way - at least intentionally - of being able to un seize these wheels.When the wheels are seized you can still use the cutters, but they will drag, making them hard to turn which causes them to start trmlining/spiralling and leaving marks on the pipe.With a lot of work, bending of parts and hammering, I was able to remove the pins for the guide wheels (difficult to remove as put in with star shaped end - not meant to be removed) and have now greased them thoroughly - why they dont come pre-greased is beyond me!! - and they have been working like a dream ever since (3+ months)

It’s brilliant product but to replace the wheel is too expensive. This makes people not to purchase.

Writing this review after a year of testing. It is built to last and does both 15mm and 22mm pipework effortlessly. I haven’t changed the blade yet but is very easy to change as you just pull the pin out and replace it with a 22mm blade. Only problem I have had is after not using it for a while the rollers become slightly stiff but with a bit of grease they turn brand new. The price is slightly high but they will soon pay for themselves.

I bought these cutters thinking they might be a bit gimmicky but I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised. I've used them nearly everyday since I bought them ( I'm a plumber), and they still cut as quickly as the first time and switch between sizes easily. Would definitely recommend.

Not sure if it works out cheaper buying 1 of these rather than buying two cheaper cutters. But if you're buying some of the premium cutters it probably does. But for me the main advantage was space saver in tool bag and convienance of having to only reach for one cutter and not two. It can be a bit fiddly to switch settings though especially if you don't lubricate it after use or if you're wearing heavy duty gloves. but brilliant for my breakdown bag where I only want to carry the bear minimum.

Bought this cutter 2 weeks ago. I love but dropped it. Now it’s not as smooth as it was. All cutters give up after a while but this didn’t take much to brake. I took it apart and put it back together. But I can’t get it to be as smooth.

Bought these cutter and after 3 months they ceased up and rusted. Contacted Amazon and a replacement was sent after a great hassle. They've been sitting around since and I went to use them about 3 months ago now and the same has happened again. They have ceased and rusted up. As there is no mentioning of warranty on these I don't know if Amazon or Rigid will replace them again. It's a good idea of having one cutter doing two sizes but the built and lasting quality is extremely poor. I wouldn't recommend these and rather go back to Rothenberg cutters which at least don't rust or cease.
