A lot a zap in a small package
This is a wonderful bug zapper. It may be small but packs a big zap. We did not purchase it for camping but for use in our backyard. We had tried solar ones, but they barely worked and once it rained they stopped. We did not want one that you had to plug in. This was the perfect choice. You plug it in and let it charge for about 3 hours. Then you just take it outside with you when you go. You can carry it with you to where ever you are in the yard or just set it down. The light is nice and has three brightness settings, but we do not use it as we don't want to attract too many bugs. Once you bring it inside you can remove the base and put it back over the zapper light and it makes sure that no bugs that did not fully get zapped escape into your home. This also works in your home. We get bugs in the house and it is a nice size to just set on the hutch and let it do its thing. Overall this is the perfect zapper for whatever you need it to do.

Better options availible
This is an iffy concept, and its hard to pony up real cash for something that could be a joke. I can tell you that some of these are indeed jokes. These Dilson's are, I am using them for fruit flies. I found the flies liked the packaging as well as they liked the device. heres the skinny:Dilson says that there are 2 modes of operation for these but there is no manual included and the switch only appeared to offer on or off. After 72 hrs I found they had Sub-par efficacy only 2 small killsVery slow shippingReturned for refundRecommendation. Spend a few dollars more and get a unit with fluorescent bulbs. I am replacing these with another Hoontz standing 2 bulb unit. I have used this type from the upper Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico and been happy with them. They are not at all jokes and they do kill a lot of pests. This kind is basically what you see in commercial food processing facilities just scaled down.

Shipping sucked, but the thing worked.
I ordered this well before a camping trip on 4th of July and it arrived the day we got home. Nearly a week for “2 day shipping”. I contacted the company and they wanted to send me a small gift. Whatever. -1 StarAs for the product itself, it seems to work. We just got back from another camping trip and while I didn’t get the chance to fully charge it, we used it anyway. The mosquitoes and flies were fairly bad. So we Got the tent all set up and Turned on the bug zapper mode before going to bed. Did the same the next night. Got home and there were quite a few skeeters and gnats dead in the thing. So it works. I suggest waiting until it’s very dark before turning it on so that it’s the only light source for the bugs to be attracted to.

Very effective but the build/finish is very poor - I found an identical alternate with a better quality finish (see review)
I had purchased a similar bug zapper here: Fxexblin Bug Zapper & Camping Lantern, Mosquito Repellent Killer With LED Night Lamp, IPX67 Waterptoof, 2200mAh Rechargeable Via USB For Indoor Outdoors Home Traveling & Emergencies which I had to return unfortunately because it started malfunctioning after cleaning it under water (as per the instructions). But it was VERY effective at killing bugs and mosquitoes (see my review there). Then I came across this one which look identical but was 25% cheaper so I decided to buy this next. When it arrived, I noticed the base was cracked and the fit/finish of the rubber tabs weren't as good, it didn't seal it property and kept popping out so I sent it back and got a replacement from Amazon. The second one had two of the blue/black LED's non functional with the same fit/finish issues. Even though it's identical in design the build of this product is very poor compared to the other one.

Worked for about a week, broke upon first cleaning. Not waterproof...
Purchased for a camping outing but use inside the house in the evenings to catch summer bugs. After 3 or 4 evenings it had accumulated a good amount of mosquitoes, gnats, and even full size flies, AWESOME.Runs for 2 nights or so on 1 charge, cool.Washed it out for the first time, set it back to charge. That evening, only 1 of the little LED's on the side turned on. The other 3 (I think 4 total) remain inoperative. (Photo shows only illuminated on one side)It still draws in bugs on the one side but now I am afraid to clean it out.Not at all as advertised, either the components are horribly unreliable, or not water resistant at all.Update, went to try and return item after writing review; "Past Return Date." I find this highly suspect if this is supposed to be a reliable device.

Don't know what all the negative reviews are about...
I was very wary of this product because of the similar negative reviews, but having used them for nearly a month now, I have only one minor complaint. They are a little bit hard to clean. I bought them because of a gnat problem that was minor but irritating. Every time I would turn on my computer or I-pad, one of the little buggers would buzz the screen. After about a week of leaving the units plugged in, I now have not seen another gnat for about 3 weeks. At first I plugged and unplugged them several times, looking for the best location. The prongs remain solid and show no signs of ever breaking off. I suggest that those who had this problem possibly yanked up on them instead of pulling straight out. The AUTO function also works perfectly. There is no OFF function. When you push the button in, the light only comes on when the ambient light is very low. When the button is out, the light stays on. I suggest that those who thought the function didn't work were using it in an area of too much light, thereby thinking it was OFF when it was actually on AUTO. The bodies of the little gnats tend to stick to the electrodes, and it is nearly impossible to get them out when they fall to the bottom. That is the only reason I didn't give this product 5 stars.

Works great but charge doesn't last as long as they say
I bought this for camping however it came a day late but i have gotten so much use of it so far. My son likes to sleep with the door open and then he gets eaten alive so we put this near him and it kills most of the bugs. I moth is too big and got stuck and I can't get him out. And the only other thing I have to say that is slightly bad is it doesn't work the 28 hrs for just the mosquito light. It goes about 12 to 18 and then needs to be charged.
