I have a couple other card readers that do the job, but I decided to order this one for the outright flexibility. Chances are that no matter what you are aiming to do, this will work, and I also appreciate the USB-A plug with an attached USB-C adaptor, so you won’t get caught out there either.It works on Windows, macOS, iOS, Linux and Android with respectable USB 3 speeds. The only point I feel slightly let down by is the rather short USB cable, so if your only available ports are at the back of the computer like my Mac mini, it can be rather awkward to reach.In terms of build quality, it does feel rather plastic, which is not surprising given the low price, but with that said it should be fine as long as you don’t step on it hard with heavy boots.One annoyance I have encountered with many card readers is that the cards only seem to mount when pressed hard into the reader, and often for an extended few seconds before being recognised. That has not been the case at all with this unit, so overall I’m very happy with you get for the price.

Finally! I can transfer files directly from my old phone to my computer with one device.Before I had to use one to get the files onto a memory card, then move that to a different device to transfer to desktop. This one has the right connections for both.My camera is on an older phone and my computer will no longer read it, so this is a lifesaver.

I ordered this thinking it would have a high output capable of powering a high end Surface as well as other devices. My advice is to check the specs before purchase to be sure you are getting what you need. This dock looks like a 199 Watt but is actually only 70 Watt. Mine was also faulty, the USB C ports did not work neither did the SD card reader. I would recommend buying the genuine Microsoft product instead.
