I also, did not use it for it's intended purposes. This is perfect to hold my 5ml ink sample vials! I've been looking for something sturdy and this was it. Not only economical, but i love that it has a lid and comes in the smoky clear color. I am going to decorate it with stickers. I'm sure it's also great for ammo though.

Very nice product! This version has a removable adapter that makes it usable on multiple gauges of 2 3/4 shells. There is also another version on the market for magnum rounds. Make sure you get the appropriate box. 12 gauge rounds will not fit with the adapter in place, and it must be removed. These boxes hold 25 rounds, a full box. I purchased 4 of these boxes, one of them a magnum, to better organize those loose rounds that have been in cigar boxes for several years, after the original packaging failed and fell apart. I would recommend using stick on labels to mark the gauge and shot size on the box, and keep like rounds together in one box so they don’t get mixed up by accident. Of my 4 boxes, I have one for 12 gauge Turkey magnum rounds, one for 12 gauge pheasant shot, one for 12 gauge light bird shot, and one for 20 gauge bird shot. I could see myself buying more of these to repackage deer slugs as well. They are very nice for keeping things organized, and cheap enough to not hurt the wallet too bad. These would be safer while traveling to and from the field as well as you wouldn’t have split open cardboard with rounds rolling around in the trunk.

It’s a nice sturdy box. It definitely holds 25-12 gauge rounds. However, it needs work. If you want a box to store shells in your closet, this will probably be what you need. If you want a box to carry out in the field, this product is lacking. The only point to keep it closed is a clamp on one side. If you drop the box on a corner the box has a good chance of popping open and dumping your shells out on the ground. Since there is no loop for a strap, you can’t sling it over your shoulder so you can carry it around securely.

These storage boxes are awesome! I ordered them to store my loose 12 ga. shotgun shells. The shells fit perfectly and they have made it very easy to organize all my shot sizes. I am satisfied with my purchase of this product!

I have used many of the MTM boxes and they always work great.

Unlike a lot of folks, I'm using this box for it's original purpose - the storage of gun cartridges. For this it's perfect. You cannot see from the listing images, but the hinge of this nicely moulded box is properly pinned, and not just a flappy tab of plastic that I feared might be the reality at this kind of price. But I needn't have worried. This is a surprisingly well made, sturdy, high quality box. In terms of neat, secure and ordered cartridge storage inside my gun cabinet, I cannot think of any better solution. Highly recommended. And yes, they work well for batteries too.

It's a hard plastic box on a good hinge. Reliable. Currently used to store 18650 size batteries among other smaller rechargeable batteries.
