A mate of my son's was after a FW400 to FW800 connection between his MacBook and an esoteric bit of DJ mixing kit, so I gave him mine. Of course, that left me without being able to access my legacy backup drives which are FW400 and I only have FW400-FW400 or FW800-FW800 cables. On arrival, this plugged in and worked straight away - just like the old one in fact. This is a no-frills adaptor, no lights, no fancy logo and no lustrous finish - but who needs all that stuff? Data are blind and don't mind what the cables and connectors look like.

This item worked for exactly 3 days and that was it, if you need one I suggest buying a different make than this.

The item does the job as advertised.It is about the same size as a USB memory stick but Amazon mailed it to my home address in a huge box big enough to hold two full-sized house-bricks My house has a normal-sized letter box (big enough for a jiffy bag with a very small item in it), but I had to go to the post office the next day to collect the large box.This delay in delivery was on top of Amazon purposely delaying their FREE delivery to try to persuade me to pay more than the item was worth for a faster delivery.Goods - Very good (would have been 5 stars if delivery was better)Delivery - Not good
