I rent an older home, and the window locks don't hold well. I can't install anything permanent based on my lease so I needed a reversible solution. These worked perfectly, I was able to adjust them to every window size or shape in my house. When I need to crack a window for ventilation I can adjust my lock to hold in the new position. But last night prompted my review. I woke up in the middle of the night and for some reason I just had to get up and put a load of sheets in the dryer I had forgotten. I didn't turn on any lights. As I approached my "home office" I saw the screen had been removed from one window. Fingertips were tugging at the slighlty open window. I screamed at the top of my lungs "It's a window lock and I have a shotgun." I heard a thump outside and a figure fled through my yard pleading for me not to call his mom. I had left a bunch of expensive electronics in plain view right under that window. I might have lost my job if those items had been stolen. It's triple digit heat where I live and I only have a swamp cooler. I have to be able to crack windows for ventilation. These simple inexpensive locks prevented a crime last night. Worth Every Penny and more.

Since you get a whole bunch of them I recommend taking one key and putting it someplace safe. Because you cannot use this without the key. It’s great to reinforce windows and sliding glass doors. The key is big enough I can turn it even with my weak hands unlike the small ones with the screw built in. But I found an extra use for this, it keeps the top down on the birdfeeder that I use to feed the squirrels. They have their own birdfeeder so they leave my real birdfeeder alone. It works quite well for this purpose and has lasted a really long time outside on the wire and has never come off or rusted, now the squirrels can no longer open the top.

Growing up I always had locks similar to this on my bedroom window. Now that I am a parent, I wanted to secure my windows for my kids, but have been unable to find anything like them, so was very excited to see these. They are easy to open and close with the long handle and screw and stay in place when tightened down. And you don't have the long handle left hanging out. You can remove it and set it aside. I have mine in the top drawer next to the baby's window in case of emergency. When I went to put the lock on her window I was concerned it wouldn't stay in place or work because of the way the window track is shaped. But it is working perfectly. I had no trouble putting it on, it hasn't moved at all, and the window has been opened up to where it stops it without knocking it off. I have so much more peace of mind having this on rather that the ones we used to have that required us to drill holes through the frame and then use an actual key in the lock. So much easier, no damage to your window tracks, and works great!

We recently moved to a new house, with a bonus room upstairs. As soon as we put furniture in that room, weeks after moving in, the 3 and 5 year olds could open the windows. I came straight to Amazon looking for locks for all upstairs windows.They arrived one week late due to a mix up at the package transfer to USPS. I was refunded the cost by Amazon because the package was thought to be lost. Then, 2 days later, they showed up, thankfully.Each lock was easy to install on the outer rail of each window. Each has a key that makes it easy to tighten in place, and should also make removal easy when I don't need them anymore. I bought a 6 pack of locks, and have all the keys on my dresser. You can put one on your keyring if you're inclined that way.

If you want to lock window, very hard to tighten.

I originally got this set of four locks thinking they would work well for our two sets of windows that slide open from both sides to allow for circulation of air using the same theory as a double-hung window. This lock works really well on the side of the window that opens on the inside of the frame, but there is nowhere to put the second lock on the side of the window that opens to the outside of the frame. Since unlocking one side of the window unlocks both sides, that leaves one side still vulnerable. The only thing I could do to secure the outside window would be to put a stick or something in the track so it couldn't move at all. That's a shame because this lock system works REALLY well. They would work perfectly if I had three panels in these windows instead of two, so there was a solid window in the middle of my sliding ones and two separate lock systems on them.Each of the four locks has its own key which you take out after the lock is tight on the frame, but I would put three of the keys away for spares and use only one key at a time to operate all the locks if I were to use them regularly.I debated a four or five star rating for these locks since they don't work for the windows I intended them for. Then I realized there is nothing wrong with the locks themselves, which work perfectly. I should have made sure they would work on the windows I have in my home. I gave them to my kids, who DO have windows that they'll work on. They're really excited since they have young children who have figured out how to climb up to the windows.

I needed locks for several windows that could prevent a window from opening further. These work as expected and also include a thin piece of plastic to place between the lock and window frame to keep the frame from being damaged. Appreciated that inclusion.

Key metal is as soft as the screw and welds itself into it

The media could not be loaded.  It says for sliding windows and doors. But it also works to stop the tabs being pulled up to unlock.

I did not measure, but they still do the trick (better if they are doubled up as shown as option in directions) I am sure that they work better when they are in the intended dimensions but I need something for my rv in a pinch, not perfect but still happy with my purchase

Locks are of good quality and securely locks. I would have given 5 star rating but for exorbitant price. However high quality, Rs 2000 for just 4 locks is too high
