Unfortunately, when you need to provide nutrition to a child who has a severe dairy and soy allergy, your choices are very limited. Thank God for this formula. My nephew was put on EleCare when he was 2 months old. After EleCare, he went to EleCare Jr. He is still on it at 3 years old.Yes, it smells awful and probably tastes awful. But when this is all that kids know, it makes no difference. Probably the majority of the children who use this have stomach feeding tubes, so the smell/taste doesn't even matter. And if child cannot even tolerate tube feeding, did you know the only nutrition to keep them alive is TPN (total parenteral nutrition via an central IV line in the chest)? It smells exactly the same (maybe even worse).My heart goes out to the families that have no choices. As far as nutrition, this is a Godsend and we are thankful my nephew can use it.

DD was about 13 months when we let her tried the EleCare Jr. She is allergic/intolerant to many things. Her eczema would flared up whenever we gave her the EleCare Jr. Then our pediatrician gave us couple EleCare infant to try. At first, same deal. The eczema would flare up whenever we gave her the formula. However, her body seems to be getting use it. Only very mild eczema flare up on her now. She really enjoys the formula. We give her the formula and rice chex in a bowl to get her liking it. It worked. She is gulping down the remaining formula from the bowl when she is done with the rice chex. We will be trying EleCare Jr again when she is done with the EleCare infant.If EleCare Jr didn't work for your kid, try switching to EleCare infant to see if it's better. As a parent of an allergic child, words can't express how I feel when I see DD gulping down the formula. Finally, something she can have that provides required nutrition without terrible eczema flare up.

I wish I didn't need to buy this product, but my 2.5 year old is allergic to dairy and soy--Other Sensitive or Specialty Formulas you can buy in the store like Nutramigen didn't work for her as an infants, so her GI specialist put her on Elecare for Infants. It was a Natural Transition to Elecare Jr, when she reached toddler stage. Unfortunately, because of her GI issues & her very picky eating she is very low weight. Traditional dairy and soy alternatives for Toddlers like Almond Milk, Hemp Milk or Coconut Milk don't provide enough fat and calories for her, so we have had to stick with Elecare Jr.The down side is the stuff smell awful. My daughter will only drink it out of a bottle and at 2.5 that is not great. Her pediatric allergist told us that most of the toddlers she sees will only take elecare or elecare jr out of a bottle because of the smell. We are in the process of weaning out the # of bottles she gets, but it is a tough balance to maintain. Oh and hands down this was a better alternative for her than the competitor (can't remember the name). She wouldn't touch the other stuff. As long as she needs the extra calories, we'll be sticking with Elecare Jr and buying it on Amazon, they have the best prices around, we'd never be able to afford it other wise.

I ordered 5 cans of elecare jr but it came with a different brand calls neocate jr. we tried because its very similar nutritions. However, my baby has very sensitive stomach and taste. Every time i feed new one, she throw up. They should not post as elecare if they send a different one.

If I can give 0 stars I would. I wish i read the reviews because purchasing! False advertising! Not elecare Jr! Do not waste your money! There are No returns

Expensive and my daughter complained of the taste. One bottle was made from the container and the rest tossed as my child refused to drink. It was an expensive product to go to waste.

My granddaughter has to have this so I think it's perfect.

The formula was close to expiration, packaging was a different blue color than other cans I’ve purchased elsewhere. I ordered two cans and had to throw away the second one and didn’t continue use of the first opened can. My son was fussy and uncomfortable, it was either bad formula or not authentic Elecare.
