Beautiful little jewels...
I ordered these purple sweet potatoes so that I can sprout them for cuttings to plant in a raised garden bed. I just ordered 1 lb. because one potato can produce several cuttings to grow. It was a surprise to receive about 10 small potatoes instead of the 2-3 larger ones I imagined. Well that's perfectly fine with me. I put them sideways into a shallow pan of potting mix in order to sprout them. The cuttings will be transferred to the garden. Because there were so many, I decided to cook the three larger ones to see what I would actually be eating if my crop is successful in the fall. I boiled them in order to retain the moisture ( I've heard purple sweet potatoes can be dry). After cooking, they came out tender, sweet, moist and creamy, with a deep beautiful purple flesh. Oh boy, I'm on the right track to be growing these. The nursery included a note mentioning that a young crop (it's early May) will only be able to produce small potatoes. They get larger as they mature. Who can argue with nature? I'm grateful to be able to receive these out of season. Wasn't able to find any purple sweet potatoes in my local urban grocery stores for that reason, I suppose. They appear in the fall unless stored for months. Anyway, these little baby are delicious and hopefully the ones in the potting mix will sprout. I put a tooth pick in this photo to give an idea of how big these are.

Nice Sweet Potatoes
I bought this pound of Japanese Sweet Potato so I can grow slips for planting in the garden. They came quickly and I was pleased that I got two nice sweet potatoes.

Disappointing Experience with Seed Potatoes
Poor handling, low quality, and overpriced. I paid $20 for exactly three seed potatoes, promised to arrive via 2-day shipping, but delivery took six days. The packaging was a flimsy standard envelope, and the product was clearly left outside in zero-degree temperatures. They arrived dried out and shriveled—by far the worst seed potatoes I’ve received in decades of gardening. Seller contact response was simply to file an A-Z claim.

Arrived on time
Came right on time. They are a beautiful color. They are not really sweet, also very fiberous and stringy.

Tasty, firm, good quality potatoes. Fast shipping.
Fast shipping. Nice quality, large Japanese purple sweet potatoes. These potatoes are difficult to find, as most commercial grocery stores, and many Asian specialty food stores simply do not carry these in their inventories. We bake these in the microwave like regular potatoes. They are flavor and tasty.

Awesome! Highly recommend!
I ordered 3lbs and got 3 large and 2 medium potatoes. They were all in good shape. One had a small damaged spot, probably from harvesting, but it wasn't soft or rotting or anything. I ate the two medium ones, absolutely delicious. Not as strong flavor as the orange ones, but I prefer these (this was my first time trying them). I put one of the large ones in water near a warm spot and it sent out roots after one week; better than my orange sweet potatoes. Can't wait to grow these for next year!
