Kenmore KC65VDKNZ000 Vacuum Wand Flat Cable Genuine Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Part

I had a hard time figuring out how to open the extension wand. First thing, release the two little clips on the sides of the clear LED cover. Then, push the accessory release button and hold it down as far as it will go. Then the entire "cuff" which covers the button needs to pull off over the button. It is NOT easy. Took both my wife and me pulling and hold to do it. Once that's off, the rest should be obvious. You need to be comfortable with a bit of mechanical and electrical work to do it. But it cost me $20 to repair with this part, instead of $140 to replace.

My vacuum started sporadically 'not working' depending on retracting/extending the wand. After looking at the wand diagram (Sears website), I saw this cable as a possible weak link. Disassembling the wand showed the cable had ripped causing the problem. This little, inexpensive piece along with ~1/2 hour of work disassembling/reassembling the wand brought the vacuum back to life. Well work the cost!

My Kenmore vacuum cleaner beater brush stopped working within several months of purchasing the vacuum cleaner. It is almost impossible to get help from SEARS!!!! The wand attachment can be extended and I believe the original cable got crimped or broken because of the up and down motion from being moved back and forth. We narrowed down the problem and ordered this part hoping it would work. It is a pain to get to and install, but the part works wonderfully and kept me from losing the $250 I paid for the vacuum cleaner.

Replaced October 2023 and failed May 2025. The thin wire traces break through where the ribbon turns 180 degrees. It's a poor Kenmore design in my opinion because the original failed the same way. But the original lasted several years compared to this replacement. My vacuum is used about once a week. And the wand extension, which is what fatigues the wire traces is moved less often.

While it took a little time to figure out how to get the wand a part, this electronic ribbon fixed the problem. Our vacuum works like brand new again.

Changing the ribbon was easy, once you YouTube how to gain access to it. Lots cheaper than replacing the entire wand or buying a new vacuum.

I would not have been able to take the wand apart had I not found a good utube video showing how another man did it by trial and error. Thanks to him I got it installed and it works fine. I first tried to order one on Sears Partts Direct. When it came to $36 something I paused, and when it said would ship in February, I said wait on that til I check somewhere else. Glad I did, because this part came several days sooner than stated.
