I was introduced to this product while in China in 2018. It was designed to help Chinese people to learn primarily English and other languages. The accuracy is about 90+% whether an American or Chinese is using this product in their own language. However, if you're trying to translate one or two words in either language, the accuracy falls quite a bit, probably due to the speech algorithms it uses. (It seems to rely on context). Overall, it helps me improve on my Mandarin tones and when I teach English to Chinese natives, it helps them improve on their pronunciations.I'm not the most careful with equipment like this but it seems very durable and does not scratch easily like my iPhone 8 does.I have found a couple of internet apps that might be slightly better in Chinese to English translation, but these apps are usually blocked in China or experience a severe lag in producing results. I bought this device when it was around 470.00 USA but I am considering purchasing another one as a backup or a lender to friends who visit China.I've had two "updates" since purchasing the device in June of 2018. The first update did improve accuracy slightly and the second update seemed to improve speed. (Or it might be my imagination). As a technology instructor for the past 20 years, I don't impress easily, but this device I would definitely recommend 100% for any English speaking person who is planning to visit China to have this device with them.

Good product with good serviceI purchase the language translator to my child, it is nice with compact design. When I got it, the default language is Chinese, I dont know the Chinese, when I ask the seller how to change the language, he let me update the firmware by connecting wifi, and then I update it, at last, the system can be changed into English language, it is very helpful. When my child got it, he is so happy and he often use it to communicate with his Chinese teacher, and his Chinese teacher tell that the translator has high accuracy, even though you use the offline translating. Good seller, I am real happy for this product.

I bought this knowing the instructions were in Chinese and only a English manual was available. I took it with me to Shanghai and got limited use out of it because none of my Chinese relatives could understand the instructions. It had great potential but after at least 3 requests I never got my English manual instruction. The other problem was in English to Chinese translation the spoken Mandarin was so fast some people could not understand it. It constantly lost the network. The translations were good. It is great for chinese people not for english people. If I get the english manual in the next few days I might keep it. Otherwise I will return it.

English to Mandarin translation was poor. My Chinese friends laughed at the mistranslations. Also does not do simultaneous translation in real time, you must press button for every sentence or so. Product failed to charge after only two weeks so it was returned for refund. We will see if I get refund or not.

I’m sur this product works just fine but it is absolutely worthless to me. I am planning a trip to Russia and I speak English. This device only translates from Chinese to other languages and back. I hope I can get a refund.

You will need to download a phone app that is all in Chinese. It does no good to have a translator if a phone app is needed and the app is written in Chinese. The company did include instructions in English, but if you make a mistake in following the instructions while creating an account, you are lost.I had some native Chinese people look at this and even they had a hard time.

Hard to use. And has to have WiFi.
