Really great for story ideas!
If your into writing horror or sci-fi, this is a fun book to grab a bunch of ideas that happened throughout history to draw concepts grounded in our reality to some extent. You can then take these ideas and write some fun stories from them. There are such a vast variety of ideas to pull from. They stretch from different technologies, shifts in the planet, things that were built, and strange weather phenomenon. The book includes some classics like the road to el dorodo as well as a list of tons of mysterious creatures. I'm sure you've heard of some of them, but probably not all of them.My favorite section is probably chapter six on hauntings. Most of the hauntings mentioned in the book, I didn't even hear about. The format is very easy to follow and even if you aren't a writer, you might get some enjoyment out of it seeing all the different speculations.

A Thrilling Adventure Through History’s Greatest Puzzles!
I purchased the book for my 13-year-old, and let me just say, it's been a hit! This isn't your typical dry history book. It's a whirlwind tour through some of the most jaw-dropping mysteries the world has ever seen, perfect for curious young minds.First off, the book is super kid-friendly without being patronizing. It strikes the perfect balance between being informative and downright fun. The chapters are just the right length, keeping things interesting without overwhelming young readers. My son was hooked from the moment he read about the Moai statues and D.B. Cooper's legendary disappearance. The variety of mysteries covered is impressive. From ancient legends to modern-day enigmas, this book has it all. The sections on cryptids and haunted locations are particularly fascinating and have been great conversation starters at our dinner table. The author has a knack for presenting each mystery in a way that's intriguing and age-appropriate.What really stands out is the book's ability to inspire critical thinking. It's not just about the 'what,' but the 'how' and 'why' behind these mysteries. My son has been more eager to discuss and research topics, showing an enthusiasm for learning that I haven't seen with other books. It's educational, entertaining, and sure to be a book they return to time and again. Highly recommend for anyone looking to engage their child's imagination and love for learning!– A Satisfied Parent and Son Duo

This is full of very real facts.
This is full of very real facts. There are so many interesting unsolved mysteries I've never heard of. I found myself wondering how have I never heard of this before? I would you are suggest reading this with someone so you the two of you can discuss the mysteries.. I found myself looking up information that was sparked by what Susan Burke wrote. This is also a good read for reluctant readers. Short stories and easy to pick up. No pressure of long paragraphs or long chapters.

Creatures, Hauntings, Places, Extra-terrestrials and More!
This book is an amazing read if you would like to know more about news and sittings that may not make it to the news. Mystery creatures such as El Chupacabra, Thunderbirds, and Mermaids/Mermen. There is also a chapter on cryptic codes and languages. This chapter really sparked my interested when discussing the small progress that was made when trying to decipher a serial killers note. The chapters in this book also have subchapter titles which makes it easier when trying to search what you are looking for. I had the e-book so I enjoyed clicking different titles and being brought to that page. This book would be enjoyed by all, but especially young kids who enjoy knowing lives unsolved or untold mysteries.
