I am in love with the new book. The layout is fantastic, much easier to navigate than the old PHB. Things are easy to find now and not just spread all over the place. The new backgrounds are great and easy to work with, as is the updated stat bl9cks for monsters. They have much more infomation on them, which I always found I was missing during DMing sessions. It came in excellent condition, although I wish it was plastic wrapped to protect it from warehouse muck as there is a small dirt patch on the bottom pages but its a minor gripe.I definatly wish this had been out when I dtarted playing several years ago; it would have made learning the game alot easier to process.

Wizards of the Coast should be congratulated for the remarkable improvements they have made in recent years to D&D, in terms of the game’s cultural terrain. The most powerful symbol of D&D’s move away from the discriminatory tropes that traditionally beleaguered fantasy RPGs is surely the orc, as featured in the new Player’s Handbook. Once characterised as a “chaotic evil” monster and fearsome adversary of any party of players, the orc has lost its distinctive characteristics and its otherness, and now resembles a human, capable of love, friendship, trust and, above all, pride. The removal of the “evil” alignment from other species such as drow and duergar has similarly made those species far less threatening and mysterious, which can only benefit D&D players by removing frightening and disturbing fantasy elements and making the game a truly safe space.The beautiful illustrations in the 2024 Player’s Handbook must be commended. The aforementioned orcs now appear completely benign: proud parents, frolicking children, happy friends. Similarly, the once-sinister Aasimar are now shown in a much kinder light, not as menacing other-worldly beings of terrifying power, but as more or less ordinary people, doing ordinary things. Earlier depictions of both orcs and aasimar would surely have been offensive to both species, if they existed in real life. In this book WotC have done right by both, and hopefully the ongoing elimination of imaginary creatures’ defining characteristics will reach its fullest expression in the highly anticipated 2025 Monster Manual.

The media could not be loaded. This book is an excellent buy! On the advice of a fellow adventurer, I bought this after Christmas and I'm happy I did. This has everything you need to know as a player of DnD, and even info you could use to your advantage as a DM. I can't wait to use the knowledge I've gained from reading this in our campaign. It even has the new character sheet that look a lot easier to utilise. Great value for money that even a beginner can utilise this book to play as an advanced character.
