KeelaGenesis Jacket

I bought this after my dog ripped the sleeve on my old fleece and thought this would make an ideal, if costly, replacement as it is waterproof. However, when it arrived I decided immediately it was too good to just wear for dog walking! I am 6'4 with extremely long arms and this jacket fits me better than any fleece I have ever owned. Bit snug fit round waist at first, but adjusted toggles and fits a treat now. Felt thin compared to old fleece, but it is a closer bonded material and is warm. Only niggle is no chest pocket and side pockets are small for me, but I have large hands so expected this.Highly recommended and will be wearing it to uni this winter.*edit 23/04/14*Had this for a while now and still love it. Been out in all weathers and been kept dry through out the worst weather. It is a must wear item whenever I am walking my dog or going out when the forecast is mixed. Excellent value for money

I foolishly followed the advice here and bought one size too big. It was too big (spookily). Amazon sent a replacement within 24 hours and it is perfect at the right size. Warm, smart, extremely comfy and really well made. Excellent value for such quality.

Superb performance in all conditions. Extremely impressed!I have on for work and one for walking. At work it's warm without getting sweaty with a good fit to allow movement and has no cords or flaps to get snagged. Out walking it's warm and wind proof without being too hot and in heavy rain keeps you totally dry.Waist and neck adjustment is single hand operation and there are two good sized pockets.Overall I'm really impressed with this jacket and will recommend it to anyone.

Good looking jacket, not flashy. Blocks the wind 100%, not tested in the rain.This is survival type of a gear. I have other fleeces and technology in Genesis makes it extra warm.Wore it in -2C with -10C wind-chill and was warm with just a t-shirt under, but did not stay out for extended period of time. Shovelled the driveway in -20C (t-shirt only) and was warm although the sun was shining so it may have been a little warmer.Sizing is a little on the smaller side according to some. Normally I buy either large or medium, and bought large, the jacket fits well, my chest is 40" and the jacket would probably be very good up to 42".Genesis looses point because of pockets, not only that there are only 2 of them but they are shallow so you have to zip your valuables or you will loose them. Also, a 2 directional zipper would have been nice.Note: In order to preserve breathability you should use Nikwax tech wash, or pure soap flakes, Grangers, Win, or Atsko sport wash, etc. The instructions are to machine wash in water up to 40C (cold is ok too), and line dry.For waterproofing which you only have to do once a year, perhaps twice you can use Nikwax TX-direct wash, as the spray will not penetrate the membrane. The funny thing is that it doesn't take a chemist to figure out that this method will affect to some degree breathability as Nikwax proofer is not that good with wicking materials. On the other hand Granger is ok on wicking materials but requires heat drying.I like Genesis enough that I bought Neptune.

Great jacket, very warm but lightweight and seems quite breathable. Good quality finish and no issues with sizing. I’m 6’4” and 18 stone, the XL fits me perfectly, I’ve got long arms and other brands have been short in the sleeves but this jacket is spot on.

you need to be aware that this company use or at least seem to use a strange sizing ie if you want medium get xl

This fleece by Keela is incredible. Very warm, waterproof and tough, the fit was perfect, even with my long arms!

I ordered a Genesis jacket in 3XL. I went up a size because I wanted a looser, longer fit.It arrived next day and I was delighted to see the style and construction were as good as my other two Keela jackets (both size 2XL). Pockets are noticeably small, per previous reviewer, but I could live with that. This did look to be a jacket worth twice the price I paid.On trying on the Genesis these good feelings quickly evaporated.I could barely bring together the two halves of the zipper and the sleeves were aproaching drainpipe tight, just wearing a T shirt.The hem is 5" shorter than my current 2XL's and even the front zip is nearly an inch shorter than my 2XL jackets.No tinkering with draw cords changed the fact that this jacket labelled 3XL was nowhere near. It wis significantly smaller than a 2XLI am delighted with the two Keela jackets I already own but this is not the first time I have had to return Keela jackets due to very poor sizing/wrong labelling.One error, my bad luck; two errors, over to you Keela.
