Does 4K 60Hz... but only in MJPEG. Has lots of other codecs, though
This unit will output 4K at 60Hz for recording, but only if you use MJPEG compression. This is honestly probably a bandwidth limitation of the USB interface, so I won't be too harsh, but it's worth mentioning. Also note that HDR is only supported on loop-through, not recording. There are a lot of codecs to choose from here. I'll include a more complete list at the end of the review, but there's some high quality ones here.Loop-through works properly, and when a monitor is connected to the HDMI output, the device clones its EDID, and otherwise appears as "THB05", a generic 4K monitor. That's how I prefer it done. I didn't see any quality loss or added latency on the output monitor when using loop-through.Microphone input, either through the combo headset jack or separate mic jack, are mixed into the HDMI recording stream, but not passed to the loop out monitor (which is good.) Mixer works the same way, but is in stereo. I wish a separate audio device appeared specifically for them, so you could record or tweak the mic/mixer audio separately.USB-PD passthrough works perfectly, and can deliver up to 85W (20V 4.25A) to the host device from a 100W charger. The device will temporarily disconnect when external power is removed, but not when power is applied. If you want more than 60W, though, you'll need a different cable to go to the host device as the included one is not e-marked.Build quality is excellent, being mostly anodized aluminum, with rubber feet on bottom and plastic endcaps. The ports are laid out very logically, with most (HDMI, USB) on the rear, and only audio on the front. Even the included USB-C cable feels nice, although its capabilities are nothing outstanding. (60W, only one USB 3.x lane.)It's a very impressive capture card, and sets itself apart from the usual generics. Build quality is also fantastic, and I haven't experienced any issues with its use. It's a bit spendy, but has a lot going for it to earn that price.Codecs supported include:MJPEG up to 4K at 60Hz, 2K at 144Hz, and 1080p at 240HzYUV2 up to 2K 50Hz or 1080p 60HZNV12 or I420 up to 4K 30Hz, 2K 60Hz, or 1080p at 120HzRGB up to 1080p 60Hz

Decent mid-tier capture card
While it is a fair bit cheaper than a lot of other more professional tier capture cards, this one does come with a few drawbacks. The capture stream it outputs is fairly delayed, so you will need to add a delay to other inputs so everything matches up. Thankfully, this is very easy to do with OBS which this card plays extremely nice with. This can be avoided by using the audio input on the card, but this also severely limits what you can do and could perhaps cause even more sync issues if they are not adjusted perfectly, especially if you use a camera or model. All in all, the card is ok. While I do not think many people will utilize the 4k capability it is there if you do need it, but for 1080p the performance is totally fine.

Issues on Apple Silicon not really as capable as advertised.
Does not support XRGB on my 14” m1pro. It does 4k60 in MJPEG, probably because it seems stuck at USB3.0(5gbps) rather than USB3.2(10gbps). It’ll pass through HDR but will not record it (it says it supports P010, but it doesn’t). Is NOT HDMI 2.1, it only supports up to HDMI 2.0b.I could go on but the reality is this product isn’t honestly advertised. It is more fair to call this an hdmi2.0b device that can record/capture up to 4k30YUV or 4k60MJPEG in SDR at 8bits and pass through HDR10VRR to the TV. Do not expect it to do RGB4:4:4 full color either, 4:2:2 is the max.I have two stars for bad product description. People need to be able to trust that a product description is accurate, this one is badly translated at best and intentionally misleading at worst. It would be a 5 star product if it was honest about capability though, it’s like a more chinesium version of Genki’s ShadowCast 2 pro.

Nifty tool for content creators
My son has been starting a channel and wanted to try and use a video capture card for offloading his gaming laptop or Xbox. This tool has been helping him to that end quite well.No problems found in the normal usage of this video capture card. It works exactly as expected.Price could be a bit lower but it's on par with competing offerings.Recommended!
