I'm not usually a Playmobil fan. But I have been a fan of the indomitable Gauls since I was a kid and I have a small collection of Asterix stuff so I bought a few of the Playmobil range. I bought two packs of these soldiers, so Asterix and Obelix have at least a moderate challenge if they ever encounter them while out hunting wild boar. Each of the soldiers is equipped with a pilum (lance/javelin), a gladius (sword) and a scutum (shield). There are two different body types- two of the soldiers are a bit chubbier than the other two. I don't remember seeing that in the few Playmobil figures I did have when I was a kid. They all have two expressions, on opposite sides of their heads- a regular smiley face, plus a battered and bruised face (clearly for after they have enountered the Gauls in the forest). They suffer from the same problems as all Playmobil figures- they are not very posable- the legs are fixed and not independent so it's not possible to pose them in a walking stance, for example. They are even less posable than Lego minifigures. But, overall they are good quality toys and quite good fun to play with.

This is a typical Playmobil set with large components which makes snap fit assembly easy and fast (unlike Lego). Basically you get a house, some interior furniture, utensils and a tree - along with Asterix and Getafix figures. It is skint for Playmobil to not include Obelix in this set. Clearly they want you to buy another set for Obelix. My only consolation is that I did not buy this set at full retail price. Make sure you buy it when Amazon discounted it. At full price I don't think it is a good value for money. Playmobil does not sell just Obelix figure. You need to buy another whole set if you want to get the Obelix figure. I feel it is a crime to separate Asterix & Obelix! The Playmobil figures lack noses! While it is not big deal for most figures, for Asterix and Oblelix, nose form big part of their characteristics looks. So omitting noses is bit of a shame. The scale of Playmobil is 1:24 (while Lego minifigs are 1:40) which is similar to G scale trains (1:23) so these builds go well with garden railways. This is why even used Playmobil building sell at high prices on Ebay. If you are new to Playmobil, please not that legs of Playmobil figures are fixed and not poseable.

Gaat Amazon bezuinigen op verpakking? Het kado was niet eens ingepakt en het was heel moeilijk de prijskaartjes en DHL kaartjes van het kado af te halen. Er blijft schade, dus ik was zeer ontevreden over de service.
