Solid Speaker with Good Volume and Acceptable Controls
This is an exceptional speaker for your bike. I bought this while training for a century ride and I just couldn't take the silence after the first few hours ( I'm a very slow rider so I need something to break the monotony ). I normally look for two main things when looking for speakers and I have tried a few that were horrible!. The first thing I look for.. how easy it is to operate? and specifically pair with my phone. I have an everyday iPhone 5 and it paired without issue on the first try and automatically on subsequent uses. The buttons are easy to use but it takes a bit to get use to. Volume increases vs fast forward take a bit of practice to not accidentally do one over the other, but I was able to get the hang of it quickly and could accomplish both while riding. I purchased the black and its one big negative, as others have mentioned, is the black on black buttons. You have to basically memorize the layout, maybe that makes it a 4.5 star item. Right next to the buttons is a blazing white-on-black Ivation logo, so its a shame they didn't carry that over to the buttons. I plan on trying to brush in some white paint to make it easier to see the buttons but am not sure that will last. The second item I look for with a bike speaker is the volume. Since this speaker is for my bike, its paramount that it have volume to carry over head winds. I found this speaker has that volume on my rides. When I hit the head winds, I could continue to hear the volume well over the hum of the wind and bike. I even think I had a few more clicks to go before max. I listen to books more than music oddly enough and the clarity was enough for me to hear the specific words from my audible choice ( shameless plug for audible ). As far as the attachment to the bike, I used the "rubber band" connection method. Its quite a tight fit to get the band on, since my flame is a bit elongated, but it did fit. I used it for a 50 mile ride and it stayed snug in place. Lastly while not a solid test, it did sprinkle during that ride and the speaker showed no issues taking some water. I haven't used it through stronger rains but in its look and feel, I think it would hold up for you. It charges well and one last fairly important item is that it lasts quite a long time. My longest request from it was a 4 hour ride and it was fine during that duration. I can't provide testimony beyond that but will update this review if I use it on longer rides.

Basically the only credible on-bike audio device
There are so few competitors for on-bike audio that it's hard to give it anything but a great review despite a few niggles. Battery life is really impressive, Bluetooth pairing is easy, Bluetooth connection is reliable with an iPhone, and it plays loud enough to be heard over most traffic. It's not an audiophile device but when you're going 25mph in open air it doesn't matter. On the downside, the buttons are not very responsive, and if you're wearing gloves, you get the double whammy of flush buttons which are not responsive, so just forget trying to skip that song and let it play :) The mount is also barebones but I'm not using the supplied mount, I'm using some other mount I found somewhere that's actually designed for a flashlight or something.

Way better then the Bolt Power Stereo Speaker
I originally bought the bolt power dual speaker for my mountain bike because of it's great reviews vs the ivation's mixed reviews. As soon as I got the bolt power speaker system I took it for a test run on the tarmac. after just 2 bunny hops the mount broke, making it completely useless. So i returned it and bought this ivation speaker instead. The ivation was not as loud as the Bolt, but it had better: sound quality and bass, a smaller more rugged design, 2 different mounts, and even still sounded pretty good when aimed forward. All in all the ivation is a much better buy, even at $5 more.Yes I would recommend this to a friend... Maybe the bolt power to an enemy?

Best Bluetooth music play I have found so far
Use it on my mountain bike to play tunes while I ride. I did not try to use the bike mount it came with. Did not want to chance it falling off on during the ride. I use electrical tape to mount it to my bike. Feel its more secure that way.Brought this one for the shape and being waterproof as well having all the controls in front of me (Play, Pause, Volume +/-, track skip forward or back and power on/off). Just wished it had a little more power to play some of my songs that were recorded at a lower bit ride. Using it with an iPhone 5, iTouch, Samsung Tab 4 and my old Blackberry.

So far do so good on my road bike
So far do so good on my road bike. Volume is fine both in the city and in the suburbs. This device makes my solo rides better when needed.Update 22 Jun 16: I have had the unit for a few months. The charge light is starting to flicker, but eventually goes solid and charges. If I pause the unit for a few minutes I cannot play music anymore. I have tried turning unit off and on. Still won't play. I have checked phone settings they are good. The only way to get it to start playing again is to stop, and hit play on phone. This is a total Pain in the Arse! I have mine on a road bike and I don't like stopping.

This thing is awesome! I love to ride my bike with music
This thing is awesome! I love to ride my bike with music, but don't like to wear headphones so I can still hear traffic. This puts out the tunes with surprisingly good sound. I can really crank it up if I want, but usually I like a nice mellow soundtrack to my ride. It clamps securely on my bike frame. I've never had it act like it was even getting loose and a couple of times I've come flying down some hills or hit some pretty good bumps. I often leave the music playing when I finish and just bring it on inside. The battery life is amazing. I've listened to it all day and never had it run out of juice. For the best sound, I mounted it on my crossbar--that way if the wind is strong the sound is still directed more toward me than out to the sides, but it works well no matter which direction it is mounted. Love, love, love this!

Satisfied with the sound but disappointed with the reception range
I am very happy with the sound quality and volume of the BOOMER. Giving it 3 stars because I get sound dropouts on a ride. The reception range is very low. I carry my phone in my backpack which is only about 3 feet from the boomer. I have found a pocket on the side of my backpack where it works pretty well but it still drops out if I move around too much. I have no way to tell if the boomer is defective or if this is a problem of the design. My phone (a Galaxy S5) works great with other Bluetooth devices

Okay for the price.
I have only tried this briefly and not in the rain, however, it does the job pretty well. If it's not windy and you are on a country or low traffic road it is even too loud! In the wind I can barely hear it. Obviously it does not go to 50Hz/20KHz like some other reviews state (just look at the speakers!), but the quality is rather nice if a bit metallic, no one is expecting hi-fi here of course. Better with vocal music rather than instrumental of course. I placed it on my topbar and especially when I am in the drops, with my head a few inches from it, the stereo effect is quite evident. The charge seems to last a long time and it is quick to recharge too. Only disappointment so far is that the rubber casing slips and lifts when you use the (very cheap) mount supplied, which will leave the unit exposed, so I wonder how long it will last in the rain.

This gizmo promised to be a great alternative to using earphones when cycling and would be if it worked reliably. The Bluetooth connection is good and the sound is adequate in volume and quality(but certainly not hifi). Problems occur when trying to use the buttons to control it. They don't work most of the time which is frustrating and deters me from using it. Battery life seems pretty good and the hands free operation is good. Get the buttons working and it would be a great piece of kit.

Avoid
Not worth it, the rubber casing slips of when you use the mount supplied, which will leave the speaker exposed to the rain, defeating the object of a water proof/resistant bicycle speaker.

Five Stars
Son loves it sounds like my car speakers.

Dissappointed
The built-in micro speaker on my phone is much louder and clearer than this - very disappointing to say the least. Certainly should not be called a BOOMER.
