Traditional Norfolk Coal Hod - Various Colours Available (Black with Black Handles)

I particularly went for this product because of it's style, ie the fact that it is a regular cylinder rather than the tapered cone which is the more commonly advertised type - so what did I get when it arrived... you've guessed it - the tapered cone style, so a completely different product to the one in the image.Apart from preferring the regular cylinder style in terms of looks, I fill mine with a shovel (rather than by scooping the coal up) and so the wider mouth of the regular cylinder is much better for this. Also, the image shown has a reasonably substantial 'bucket type' handle on the top for lifting and a single insubstantial wire type handle lower down on the side for steadying etc, whereas the one delivered has two insubstantial wire type handles on the side only, which will therefore take all of the load and so probably will not last very long. Finally it arrived with one side pressed in flat as if someone had stood on it. So, not happy with this, but judging by other seller reviews it seems unlikely that there would be much point in getting back to the seller with a complaint (other than in the form of this review) and so will grudgingly make the best of what I now have.*Update as at 22 October 2021:…. Credit where credit is due. I had had no direct contact with the seller other than leaving a bad review for both the seller and the product – due to the product being completely different to the one being advertised. To me it was less attractive, less functional, probably less durable, and damaged on arrival. But to my pleasant surprise, the seller then responded to those reviews by contacting and offering to refund or replace (I had given no indication that I was seeking either and so didn’t expect it) - it would have been easy for them to have done nothing about it, but, to give them credit they did choose to make up for it and have now done so by replacing it with the correct one (indeed they didn’t even want the wrong one back). I have to say that the replacement does look and feel much sturdier with the strong bucket type of handle and so now I am very satisfied with the outcome, and am impressed with the response of the seller to acknowledge and then rectify the original error when they could so easily simply have ignored it.So, I would now like to upgrade my rating to 4 stars for the seller (have to hold one back for the original error) and 5 stars for the product.

This is a great coal bucket for the price, but when I used it for the first time to pour coal the side of the bucket buckled when using the side handle. That section of the bucket needs a reinforcment panel to stop it buckling. That said I contacted the seller and another bucket was sent the next day. I have not used the side handle again. 5* seller.

Stronger than I thought it would be for the price

I didn't think this was expensive and it was delivered quickly. It does the job nicely and holds plenty of coal.However, it came with a couple of dents (which I could mostly push out by hand) and is twisted slightly out of shape. That's because the metal is not thick enough - I'm old enough to remember when everyone had a good sturdy coal scuttle. That said, a dent or two is not really going to detract from its looks - it is a matt black working item that holds dirty black coal.

This for me was was light weight, very thin metal. It did look the part though. Ours arrived damaged. However, can’t fault the seller, straight on it and offered a full refund and send it back, or keep it and get 50% back. Wouldn’t fancy picking up many times when full of coal as I think the handles would snap off.

Nice and easy to use. The wide opening makes getting the coal scooped up nice and easy.Seems sturdy but only time will tell.

This item is easy to handle. It also holds a lot of coal which is useful.
