Proxicast Active/Passive GPS Antenna SMA - Through Hole Screw Mount Puck Antenna with Straight SMA Male Connector on 6 ft Coax Lead - 28 dB LNA (ANT-190-020)

I wanted to setup a precision ntp time server indoors and with this antenna even with 15ft of cable to the actual gps unit it locks on quickly and i get precise time fix in less than a minute. I tried a few other small active antennas and not one of them could get a fix sufficient for precise time keeping.

This is the first GPS antenna I’ve found that can receive and fix a location in my house with a metal roof. The cheap antennas don’t do that. I’m using a Raspberry Pi 4 to collect GPS data while driving. My development environment is done in my house. It is a bit awkward to mount if you don’t want to drill holes in your best antenna location. My hillbilly solution was to tape it on top of a bean bag ash tray (also from Amazon). The bean bag is stable on my dashboard so I’m a happy camper.

I installed this GPS antenna on an ICOM IC-905 and have no issues tracking multiple satellites at any given time. Even seems to work OK indoors but definitely recommend using it outdoors.

Pretty great, easy to install, had good seals and guides, antenna lead was not loose(ordered a extremely similar style and profile WiFi antenna and it's lead needed to be cemented into the puck before risking installation. It can be tricky to get the assembly nut into the post when in confined areas so consider that and plan ahead the post is not super long, and the wire lead is not super flexible, so in a confined space you may have challenges. Improved my signal quality markedly over the included antennas with my GPS (it's better antenna, and also could be left outside, even the inside antenna didn't do this good placed outside) test your placement before drilling! (2-3 satellites after 2-3 mins became 15-25 satellites after 1 minute, 2-5 minute deadlines for gps have gone to zero). It's been months and a summer and winter season, a series of long road trips in both seasons, no durability issues, no signs of failure yet. If you can afford to add a GPS equipped thing to your car, then you can afford to upgrade a bad or inside only antennas is my advice. Is overall affordable for the quality of life gains

Works exactly as intended and has a curiously. Only thing was I had to make a jumper cause of short cable length but that’s just a nit pick. Install was very straightforward and the signal is incredibly accurate. Worth the money and a positive is it’s reusable without having to add new adhesives like the window ones

Works with my Adafruit ultimate GPS hat for Raspberry Pi. Planning on installing a Raspi powered Openplotter setup on my small boat using this as the GPS antenna.
