In the Middle, Third Edition: A Lifetime of Learning About Writing, Reading, and Adolescents

THis is a great book. I wish I could fully implement it in my classroom but there are district and school directives I must include in my curriculum. I have to be content with implementing as many of her ideas and methods as I can.

This book is amazing! I learned not only the basics of teaching ELA but also great methods of really engaging tune to in the reading and writing process and helping them become life long readers. I will be keeping my rental permanently I find this book so helpful, and full of great ideas and resources. Highly recommend to any aspiring ELA middle school teacher.

Excellent strategies for teaching grades 4-9 literacy. Easy to read narrative style. Concrete examples of how to establish a literacy classroom.

Reviewed my copy of Nancie's 2nd edition of this book as I started a new page in my teaching career--- teaching Middle School. This year, my 2nd year in Middle School, I purchased her 3rd edition, and am thoroughly loving it. It has provided me with a rich basis for my instruction with my middle school English Language Arts students, and would highly recommend it for all Middle School English Language Arts teachers.

Great book. I have the second edition but am enjoying the updated third edition.
