Great little sketchbook
I got this as a sketchbook to keep on my small nightstand by the bed in case of late night ideas, or to be able to easily stick in a purse. It's a nice sturdy hardcover and didn't get damaged in shipping. The paper feels good (I generally use a pencil, I haven't tried mixed media yet). I actually prefer spiral bound at times because it's easy to lay flat and draw without having to hold it open. The pages are perforated so you can tear them out cleanly later if you want to, though I haven't tried it yet.

Perfect sketchbook for me.
I bought this because I wanted to get back into drawing again and wanted something cheap but would withstand me just dropping it onto the floor because I literally have no storage space in my room. Overall, I love this sketch book! It's small, but not too small. It'll fit easily into any average backpack and weighs no more than the average laptop. The cover is hard and tough and extends pass the pages enough to protect them. It won't bend or break with just average daily use. It would take a lot of force to break that cover. Now on to the pages. The pages are wonderful! My pencils just glide over the surface easily. They're thick and I love that they have perforated edges. I can just tear out whatever drawing I want and pin up onto the wall or give it to a friend. I've already done two drawings for my mom and she has them framed. Since these are acid free pages, I am hoping that the paper won't fade or yellow after awhile. The wirebound is a nice bonus since I like holding the sketch book in my hands and I hate it when it won't bend back around for easy drawing. Overall, it's great for any beginner or advanced artist.

Perfect size, paper, and hard cover
Perfect! I have been going through sketchbook after sketchbook since I was a teenager, trying to find the right "fit" for me. Most were too large or the paper too rough, too smudgy, or spiral bound which is a nightmare when you carry your book in a backpack. Found this one my second year of college and I immediately fell in Iove. The 8 by 5.5 inch is a good size for how I sketch and the paper is great for the typical HB lead. For inking I use Sakura Micron pens and there doesn't appear to be feathering. I also use grey copics which work fine a nice even color, with a sheet of scratch paper under the page I'm working on, because iit does bleed minutely but that's pretty standard with anything under 90 lbs.I have finished 6 of these sketchbooks and just ordered two online because the only store that carries them in my area was sold out the last two times I checked in. A little more expensive than what my go-to art store sells them for but I suppose that's alright since I've temporarily been using a back up sketchbook which is...not the best. When I bought my very first purse (at age 22, hah) my only specification was that it fit my sketchbook, which it does at a pretty standard purse size. The only way this could get less than 5 stars would be if Amazon sent me the wrong item again...

Good, but Not Perfect
This little book is sturdy. I've had it in and out of my bags for a while and there is hardly any sign of wear and tear. The binding is great and lays pretty flat. Works well with dryer media. The amount of pages for the price is fantastic. My only problem is that the paper doesn't take wetter pens or markers very well. The ghosting can be terrible. It makes it hard for me to experiment because I want to start mixing media and using fountain pens. This sketchbook can't take it.If you don't use wetter media, then this will work for you. It has worked for me, but I'm ready to do more.

Good wirebound sketch book
I never tried Pentalic before, but I'm glad I did. The wirebound sketch book is great. The paper is smooth and takes most pens pretty well. There is some bleed thru with heavier pens, like Sharpies. The perforations are nice if you remove your sketches. What I really like is the binding. The wire is strong and doesn't come loose like other wirebounds tend to do. The covers are also pretty sturdy. After two months of repeated use I've noticed a couple of little nicks on the edges of the covers, but nothing that stops them from keeping the pages protected. I carry this around everyday, throw it in my backpack with my laptop and other books all the time, and it has held up well. The binding doesn't snag the pages or get caught on the loose threads inside my backpack either. That's been an issue before with most spiral bound notebooks and sketchbooks I've had.I'm definitely planning to buy another Pentalic wirebound to replace my old one. Just figuring out what size since I'm considering sizing up from the 7X10 inch.

Basic but amazing
This is a basic sketchbook but my son was so excited to get it for Christmas. He liked the plain black because he wants to add stickers and other fun things to the cover. This is a heavy book but he loves it. The paper is decent quality especially for a pre teen to sketch his comic book ideas in.

Nice field journal that I'll repurchase
I ordered this because of good reviews. I've done light wash watercolors on about 7 pages now and I agree that this is a great book for travel or field studies. The cover is a sturdy quality and the spiral binding allows the pages to turn easily. The paper is more off-white than I prefer but that's me. It also has a lot of sizing so it's difficult to wet. After a couple of pages I learned the limitations and adapted water usage so it's working for me. My biggest surprise has been that the pages dry with very little curve. I've been misting the back of the page with water and weighting it overnight and it dries perfectly flat.I'll buy this again. I think value:price Is reasonable. 5 stars for product and seller.
