its fun!
works very well. make sure the eject mechanism is pulled back allowing the blades to spread. center it over the dandelion and push it in the ground as far as it will go. tilt it back using the foot pedal as a fulcrum (step on the foot pedal if needed). the blades close tightly around the dandelion as it is tilted and pulls it out of the ground. slide the eject mechanism handle down and the dandelion is easily ejected from the blades. if it is properly centered over the dandelion, you will see the big main root in the middle along with smaller roots. sometimes it is necessary to do it a second time for larger dandelions, or if it wasn't properly centered. it is very satisfying, and actually enjoyable. i was actually sad i ran out of dandelions to pluck. filled a 5 gallon bucket full of them

Works well on dandelions to get the long tap root
This thing works really well for weed removal that includes the root (my experience is with dandelions). Many of my attempts included all of the long root. I did opt for this version of this product since it included the ejections feature. If you are considering this because of that feature, I have a few thoughts.I would buy this again based on the ejection feature the weeder includes that is not included on other options. However, I did end up still bending over and removing a lot of the dirt that was dug up with the weed. The plug of weed and dirt that this digs up is not big, but it still does make a hole. I would remove the weed from the plug and then shove any dirt and/or grass plug back into the hole. The ejection feature is still handy. I would dig up 5 or so weeds and eject them and then work on them as a set, removing the dirt and filling the holes for those 5. It made the process quicker with the ejection feature. I'm glad I paid a little bit more. I also think that if I'm working in an area of the yard with fewer weeds, I won't take the time to remove the dirt which makes the ejection feature also a back protection feature. The dandelions are more dense in the area I'm working on now and close to a patio. I also threw some grass seed in the area I was working on after I was done.I do think that this will not go as well once summer is underway and our clayish dirt starts to get harder. But I do see myself using this weeder a lot until that time comes.

This iis one of the best things I have purchased.
I wish I had taken before and after pictures! I am 73 and have arthritis in a variety of joints. I have a long driveway with beds along both sides and multiple long beds against all sides of the house. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I got the job of cleaning out overrun weeds. I mean solid green mats inside borders of Monkey Grass. The vast majority of what had to go were solid mats of what I have been told is a mixture of both wild grass and crabgrass forming mats via runners and new plants. Goose grass, wild Bermuda, turfgrass, landscaping weed and razor grass. Some of it so invasive that it shoots up through the established thick monkey grass border. A daunting task for anyone. I got my Fiskar 4 claw weeder in early June. Between the heat, humidity and long stretches between real rainstorms much of the ground was hard. I have thus far sent 3 refills of 3 Rubbermaid's huge professional barrels, packed tight with weeds, for composting. I probably have enough weeds to fill two more barrels and then will start on shrubs. I don't think Fiskar has anything to help with shrubs but if and when they do I'm going to get one. I would get hot and tired and sure my back would get a little sore from raking and picking up stuff to pack the barrels but not near as sore as I could have been having to hand pull that sh,,,stuff. I had a run in with some fire ants (they get inside your socks and you don't know it until you feel the bite and then you know why they call them fire ants) which slowed the progress and I had to cool off and rest more than I used to. A couple of suggestions: If the weeder doesn't seem to work and you think it broke. Even if you can't see anything push the ejector handle all the way down, pieces of wood or even a rock may be holding the claw open. Sometimes it's hard to get the exact center of the weed but if it doesn't seem to bring the weed up stop and reposition a little...9 times out of 10 you're off center. Gentleman if you want the lady of the house to volunteer to do the weeding (I didn't volunteer but I did find a silver lining) just tell her it will help her wings. I highly recommend Fiskar's 4 claw weeder and I'm glad I spent the money. I really believe I'd have either given up or called it quits if I didn't have this tool.UPDATEThey say it's fall, I'm not sure where because in the Piedmont of the Carolinas it isn't fall. The weeds are happy but because my Fiskar weed puller is still going strong I just grab them by the root and they have no chance to sprout runners or new clusters. I have used this at least twice a week because I find more and more weed clusters along the hedge line. I continue to be impressed with this tool. The weeds like wire grass have matted roots that come up in a clump and loosen the soil around it then you can easily pull its runners out with your hand. Have had no issues with the weed puller... just use, rinse, hang and use.If you read all this you can tell I'm impressed. I would definitely buy again if the need arose,Update: My Fiskars tool is still going strong and it has had a real workout. I weeded areas and gardens equal to about a quarter acre. This year is not as difficult but I have continued to use the Fiskars without issues and in soil good to red clay. I'm in my 70s and am comfortable using it for two hours or more until I break for food/fluid, BR, clearing or throwing a ball for the dog. I don't think anyone would be unhappy with their purchase unless there is a defect.

I use it all the time. Not good on bind weed. Have dandelion weed to pull? Buy it. It helps.
I have a lawn that is more weeds than grass. I am stubborn stupid in my neighbors opinions because I don’t want to use weed killers and fertilizers. We have a dead lake nearby that kills all people and animals that drink or get that water in their systems. I refuse to pretend the excessive use of fertilizers and chemicals is not the direct cause. Lots of farmers farming in area… I am trying to go at it in a way I am not part of that with my hard work and vinegar, salt, dish soap weed killer and pulling out what I can. Stubborn yes. The vining weeds I spray. I pull dandelions. This is good for dandelion. Only good because it doesn’t clamp down hard enough to get the root out in one go a lot of the time. And I’ve only used it for about a month but it’s dulling a bit. It says you can take it in for free sharpening but I haven’t looked up where yet. It is a wonder how much it helps shorten time pulling weeks but at the same time when it takes 4-5 try’s to get the root out you make a huge hole in the lawn in the process. I was asked if we had mice. lol. No, it’s just me!! Not sure if it can be made more effective. I will have blades sharpened. It is definitely worth the money for the use and amount of time it saves me vs digging it out with a screwdriver (don’t know the actual tools name.) I would recommend this product. I am not certain how durable it will turn out to be. I have a lot of weeds. It will be tested thoroughly. As far as comfort goes, it’s not uncomfortable to use, haven’t had blisters or anything. So dulled already but it’s used heavily.
