All singing and dancing apart from doing what it actually is supposed to do - clean your laundry
I have been using this washing machine for the last 8 months now and here is what I think of it:I wanted a bigger machine (8-9kg), more energy efficient, more clever and also a quiet one. So I replaced my 7 years old LG, which I was very happy with - it was quiet, very good at cleaning and spinning (1400 rpm).I was choosing between Whirlpool's new model (the quietest on the market) and this Bosch. Because of the i-DOS feature I decided to go for Bosch. Was it a good choice? No, it was not. I really am not happy with the machine. The biggest issue is that laundry is actually not clean and even after 1400 spin it is not as dry as it was in my old LG at the same speed (which is not helping when living in a flat). It is well built though, it is quiet at wash, bit louder at spin than my old machine but still acceptable. It has a touch screen, which can take time to get used to it as it is not a smartphone. I would prefer physical buttons. Other than that there is not much positive I can say about it. I think Bosch focused too much on technology and features and forgot that it was actually designing a washing machine, which is supposed to wash (clean) your laundry.Few elements behind which I cannot understand the logic:1. remaining time - unlike my old machine (which did few spins at the beginning of the cycle to calculate the time needed to finish the cycle, which would change by max +/- 5 minutes throughout the cycle) this Bosch has preset time for each program. As the cycle progresses it changes the time and it does so by as much as (usually) + 30 minutes. Few days ago it was still at the washing and the remaining time was 15 minutes. As soon as it started the rins and spin cycle (5 minutes later) it changed to 40+ minutes left to the end. Absolutely unreliable and pointless. Another strange thing about the preset time - cotton, 60 or 90 degrees, spin 1400 takes 2 hours and 20 minutes; cotton, 40 degress, spin 1400 takes 2 hours and 40 minutes. Why?2. i-DOS - great, it takes away the guessing of how much of powder/liquid to apply each time you use it. So much of theory. The reality is not as great as it sounds. I find the liquid detergent to be more expensive than the powder one. However you cannot use any concentrated, gel liquid solution as it is too thick. I can only see the top brands actually offering a normal liquid detergent, all supermarket brands make only concentrated ones. This is something to keep it mind as it can have a big costs implications. I have been using Fairy Non-Bio liquid for first few months and the results were shocking (really poor cleaning). Now I am using the Eco brand and it is little bit better but nowhere near as clean as it was in my old LG. And it is quite expensive detergent. In the end, as I mentioned already few times, I cannot see the intelligence and cleverness of this system inthe cleaning results after wash. My laundry is not clean. It helps a little bit using pre-wash every time but that just denies the reason I decided to go for a more energy efficient machine in the first place. Also the drawer is more difficult to clean under tap because of it size and shape. And yes, it gets pretty dirty. Another detail, you are supposed to clean the drawer completely every time you change the product brand.3. the way it finishes the whole cycle. Sometimes it shows there is 1 minute left to the end while it still spinning at 1400 and after few moments it suddenly stops and beeps it has finished. Other times, it stops the cycle while showing there are 4 minutes left to the end and for the remaining time it just spins slowly right and left every now and then until the time runs out.
