Thorne subjects all raw materials to testing for solvent residues, screening for pesticides, heavy metals and other contaminants. Thorne also has a longstanding policy to not use genetically modified ingredients in their products. Therefore, to the best of their knowledge, every Thorne product is GMO-free, even though they don’t label their products as being non-GMO. The reason Thorne does not label their products as non-GMO is because there are no current tests that can be performed to confirm an ingredient’s non-GMO status. Currently, an ingredient’s non-GMO status can only be affirmed by a supplier affidavit, and Thorne has chosen to wait for the time they can use scientific methods to confirm every ingredient’s non-GMO status. Due to supply chain issues and an industry-wide shortage of Creapure raw material, Thorne has varied their raw material suppliers to maintain the product’s availability. Thorne has taken the utmost care to source an alternate creatine raw material that meets their rigorous quality and efficacy standards, and because of this, it is likely you will see a difference in their Creatine product from order to order. Please keep in mind that the particle size of the new creatine material is nearly identical to CreaPure, although the powder is slightly finer, which can contribute to slight changes in the appearance of the powder. In addition, while the serving size remains the same, the scoop size will vary because this new raw material has a slightly different density

Q: Is there a loading phase for this product?

What other people are saying is wrong, there is no evidence that creatine loading causes kidney damage or renal dysfunction in healthy individuals, as confirmed by multiple RCTs, including in athletes taking 20g daily for week-long periods. All creatine products are more or less the same compound, and the loading phase of 20g/day for 6 days has been shown to result in equal outcomes as 3g/day for 28 days, so it is a matter of personal preference. The few case studies linking creatine to renal dysfunction published in 1997-2006 were all retrospective and had numerous confounding variables. For example, the case published by Revai et al. (2003) was of a bodybuilder taking excessive amounts of steroids and 200g of creatine daily (yes, two hundred grams).
