The Emporia 3 Energy Management system has been a fantastic addition to our home — definitely a five-star product. Installation was much easier than I expected; with a little patience and basic DIY skills, we had it up and running in no time. The app walks you through the setup step by step, and the system connected smoothly without any issues.What we love most is the level of insight it gives us into our energy usage. We can see exactly where and when power is being used throughout the house, down to individual circuits. This detailed data was incredibly helpful when planning our solar panel installation — it gave us a clear picture of our real energy needs, which helped us size the system properly. If you’re looking to reduce your power bill, understand your usage, or plan for solar, this tool is a no-brainer.

I purchased this tool in order to monitor the critical loads in the house. It arrived with everything that is needed in order to perform the installation. There are a couple of things to consider before start, one of them is the orientation for the sensors and the fact that the Wi-Fi connection does not support 5GHz or higher, so, if you have eero or any other Wi-Fi 6 or 7 networks you may need to force to the lower band in order to allow this unit to be connected. Since the main box was installed in a plastic container the signal was not severely impacted. The sensors for the regular breakers are a bit big from my point of view making the insertion in a crowded panel a little dificult. Once installed and configured I was able to identify points of improvement in my electrical distribution right-o-way, including the fact that the Air Fryer actually creates a very high demmand on the circuits. The product and accesories are very well built and once in production is a very intituive and easy to use tool. I believe that was money well spent.

We are using much more electricity than I anticipated, so I had the utility company investigate the meter and also ordered the new Emporia Vue Gen3.The instructions for setting up the device are very straightforward and in my case, we have a modern load center and it can be done easily by a handy person.That being said, you are operating in an area where you can easily electrocute yourself when not paying attention. If in doubt, let a licensed electrician do this.The hookup with a modern panel that has enough room will take somewhere in the realm of 15 minutes. YMMV with older installations.Now the amazing piece is, that the accuracy of this device is easily within 1% of what the utility company claims. I am very impressed with how quickly and accurately the device measures the load and displays changes.You can look at the consumption at different resolutions: A given circuit's usage per Second, Minute, Hour, Day, Week, Month, and so on.The finest levels of resolution like Second or Minute are only kept for a limited amount of time (nobody will scroll back that far anyway), but the coarser resolutions will be kept indefinitely.This system works incredibly well. I can see in the finest resolution if I turn a device on or off immediately. But when I look back on how much my Water Heater used last week I need seldom a finer resolution than the hour.If the 16 sensors aren't enough you can either shuffle them around or buy a 2nd Vue and nest them to get more coverage.Alternatively, if you have more circuits than sensors, or, if you want to monitor devices on a given circuit separately you can add Emporia Smart Plugs. That allows you to single out power hogs or add more monitoring capabilities without having to buy another full Vue. Once you nest the plugs into your setup the graphs are smart enough to display your usage correctly.I am very happy with the device and can wholeheartedly recommend it at this point.We figured out that our AC is running a lot more than it should because the insulation in the attic is sub-par and a bunch of devices that didn't need to run were wasting energy in the house. Effectively the Vue has already paid for itself.

Ease of use:I researched this product quite a bit before purchasing. I was looking to find out why our true up (solar system) was increasing every year. After a month it was pretty obvious that it was my old AC systems were sucking down the power. We replaced the ACs and it was pretty satisfying to see the reduction in power that the new systems. It was a bit of a pain to install, but that was due to my panel configuration and not the product. Overall, I’m pretty satisfied, but I think the real payoff will be in the long term. The more data it gathers the more you can see patterns. Only had it for 5 months so far, so more data will show more patterns (seasonal differences). The only drawback is that the user interface is not exactly the greatest (not intuitive) however it seems like they keep updating the app, so it should get better. Once you get used to it it is not a barrier, just a learning experience.

We replaced an older model energy monitor. This has app with multiple displays & settings. Easy to use/ monitor. Works well with smart plugs for measure of single devices.

This is one of the coolest devices I have ever bought. I use it multiple times every day. It needs to be installed by a competent electrician, but well worth it. It not only displays the power consumption of every circuit and device in the house, but it RECORDS the usage in memory for recall and display. I'm spoiled-I could not live without it now.
