Thinking: The New Science of Decision-Making, Problem-Solving, and Prediction (Best of Edge Series) Paperback – Illustrated, 11 Aug. 2016

I love the way different people think about the same subject. It proves once more that great ideas are not owned by anyone (be it Einstein or any other much revered scientist). It proves that ideas are every-changing, from person to person, from scientist to scientist.This is not a book in the classical sense where an author write about a subject. Where the author gets wrapped and slowly mummifies itself in layers of same ideas which he has to justify and defend and protect . Is rather a collection of free range ideas. This is why I like it so much.

Thought provoking

This is an extraordinary collection of essays and presentations form a diverse bunch of academics, which has all the opportunities to be a lot of waffle. However, it manages to be both rigorous and exciting at the same time. many of the contributors are at the front of their fields, and you can "hear" them talk about subjects and concepts that are still a long way from mainstream thinking, but once considered, seem self evident.Its not a quick read; I tend to only be able to read a chapter at a time as the concepts are complex, but well worth the effort.

The topics are a little disjointed. It reads like a series of short stories rather than one book. I was hoping to be able to apply the principles discussed to my everyday decision making at work, but it is more of an observational book with no hints on turning the theory into practice.

A wonderfully interesting read on how our minds work (and don’t) by the great thinkers of our time including Steven Pinker, VD Ramadachan, Jonathan Haidt, Sam Harris, Daniel Dennett and Daniel Kahneman. Recommend 100%

I have read other books in this series, enjoyed them all, very thought provoking, small self contained sections so I can dip in and out freely, and still take something away from the experience,

Indecision has been the enemy that mankind is facing today. Whether right or wrong a decision needs to be made

This is all rambling gossip - full of anecdotes - and hardly anything new.Very disappointing, given Brockman's other collections such as What are you optimistic about, This will make you smarter, etc
