yes it stops the gate but still is slamming. the rubber on the item is way thinner than it seems. it they could at least double the thickness it maybe better at stopping it from still slamming. going to add some rubber to it and see if that helps. still it is a good product

We got the slow closing hinge and lock from the same company, and they have helped with the old metal gates in our swimming pool. This part just helps a bit with the clanging noise

I installed these on my aluminum gates on the inside of the post. I tested it on the gate and on the post in various places by taping the bracket on with electrical tape. The top part of the post, just under the latch, turned out to be the spot with the best performance in quieting the noise. I drilled a pilot hole before installing the screw. Only needed one screw to secure it. Will keep the others and add if for some reason it comes loose.
