Dressed to Kill―Second Edition: The Link Between Breast Cancer and Bras

An Interesting Study Into One Possible Breast Cancer Cause
Reading this book, it seems like such an obvious possibility that wear tight fitting garments (bras) around the breasts is such a natural idea, and one would have expected to have been evaluated long before these authors (and scientists) came along, but sadly, until they did their research, it has never been studied. The idea that snug fitting garments could cut off the flow of lymph fluid seems so obvious, but apparently it wasn't. The book is a good read and provides for the methodology for their data which shows a correlation between bra usage and increased cancer risk. It is not the end to the search, but certainly a place we should be investigating more closely.I highly recommend this book to all women. It may not be the complete answer to what causes breast cancer, but certainly might be a piece to the puzzle. And to the authors, I would suggest you evaluate women from nudist colonies, as surely they wear bras much less often than other women.

While not the best quality writing, the evidence is there
My wife and I both read this book and discussed it a lot. She is a science teacher and I am an engineer. It is clear this book and study needs a peer review. The writing quality regarding critical thinking, logical fallicies, and overly dramatic scare statements needs improvement. Despite that, their basic arguments and evidence are sound. Being the skeptics that we are, I independently verified the various studies referenced by both sides of the argument. The short version is there is zero credible evidence to prove bras don't cause cancer, and limited evidence that indicate bras could cause cancer along with many other health problems. When I reviewed the study referenced from the American Cancer Society, I was surprised that they misrepresented the truth of their study. I don't know what to make of that. It is clear that more and bigger studies need to be done to get a better understanding. I'd like to give advice but I know few, if any women are going to care what a man thinks they should do with their bras. You should read it and decide for yourself.

Bras cause cancer and here’s how and why
Breast cancer is unknown in countries where women do not wear bras. Reading this costs little and could save your life.

Don’t buy it.
Don’t buy it, reads like a medical journal. It’s not a big book but will take many hits to read because of all the medical jargon.

Wish I’d read this book before I got breast cancer. Deserves 10 stars!
The connection between bras and breast cancer is stronger than that between smoking and cancer. Wow! I found the evidence connecting bras to breast cancer presented in this comprehensive and extremely readable book to be compelling. As a 2-time breast cancer survivor, I read it as part of the research I did for my comedy self-help memoir, “My Wild Ride: How to Thrive After Breast Cancer and Infidelity.” It’s a shame that all you find when googling this issue is the flawed 2014 Hutchinson study showing no link between bras and cancer that had no control group of bra-free women and only looked at postmenopausal women in whom the damaging effects of bras were much weaker because of survivor bias. Yet numerous other studies confirm the bra-cancer connection described in “Dressed to Kill.” The authors recommend going bra-free for just 30 days to see if you notice any benefits. I for one would never go back to wearing the garment.

A Very Compelling Read!
The authors of this book make a very compelling case for their theory that tight fitting, restrictive bras contribute to formation of breast cancer. I'm not surprised people are so quick to dismiss or even ridicule it as "pseudoscience" given the cultural climate these days and that's sad. However if you are willing to keep an open mind and actually just listen to what they have to say you might be surprised. It's a light, easy read and some parts explaining the science behind their approach can be skimmed if you are only interested in the meat and potatoes of their research. I highly recommend you give it a chance, ladies!
